Before I get started, let me make it clear that this is NOT a suspect thread. This is merely a thread to discuss a new threat in LU, so keep suspect discussion minimal.

That aside, with the recent tier shifts, we lost a great Ghost-type in Golurk, who was a great physical attacker / SR setter. But UU wasn't merely taking, for in return we got another great Ghost-type to join the LU club: the long awaited Mismagius. With 105 Special Attack and Speed, Mismagius is easily a great offensive threat; having an awesome boosting move in Nasty Plot and great three move coverage in Shadow Ball, Hidden Power, and Thunderbolt are only some nice bonuses! Mismagius also has Calm Mind and Substitute, as well as some cool support moves in Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Thunder Wave, allowing for more sets for her to run. Being immune to Fighting is cool to allow her some setup opportunities, and being a Ghost-type means she can also be an awesome spinblocker; like her friend Dusclops, she isn't always gonna beat Kabutops one-on-one (but hey, no Ghost-type can, right?), but her offensive prowess will allow her to put a good fight against the common spinners in the tier. With all that in mind, let's take a look at what is bound to be LU's top offensive Ghost-type:

    Some Good Sets:

    Mismagius (F) @ Leftovers / Life Orb
    Trait: Levitate
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Nasty Plot
    - Shadow Ball
    - Substitute / Hidden Power Fighting
    - Thunderbolt / Hidden Power Fighting[/HIDE]

This is Mismagius's bread and butter NP set; she is easily one of the top special sweepers in the tier with this very set. With her resistances to Normal and Fighting along with the forces she switches, she can handily sneak in an NP boost and become one fearsome threat. You could run Shadow Ball+HP Fighting+Thunderbolt with LO to just straight up sweep, or you could run Sub+NP to dodge status and set up handily. Mismagius's high Speed makes the deal sweeter; she can outspeed most things bar Cinccino, Scolipede, and Sceptile, and handily sweep the team. This is easily the most common set of Mismagius, and arguably the most dangerous.

    Mismagius (F) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Levitate
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Substitute
    - Calm Mind
    - Shadow Ball
    - Hidden Power Fighting[/HIDE]

Substitute and Calm Mind make Mismagius a threat less quickly than NP, but give her a more bulky approach. She can boost her Special Defense while hiding behind a Sub, and thus making it hard for Stall teams. Her two move coverage in Shadow Ball and HP Fighting is cool too, meaning nothing resists her moves, giving her few legitimate counters. She can use Clefable as set up bait, which is cool, and overall this is a great set. Shadow Ball is STAB, while HP Fighting nails Clefable and Steelix.

    Mismagius (F) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Levitate
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Taunt
    - Shadow Ball
    - Pain Split[/HIDE]

This set gives up the sweeping potential of Mismagius and instead gives her the role of a supportive stallbreaker. With Taunt and WoW, she can annoy stall teams to death while spreading burns. She can cripple Fighting-types such as Gallade and Hitmonlee quite easily, and Pain Split also allows her to recover her HP. This makes her more of an "annoyer" of sorts, intending to annoy the opposition while doing disruptive things. Shadow Ball is just decently powerful STAB to allow her to deal decent damage to the team, so she's not complete Taunt bait. This is a really good stallbreaker to run if stall is a problem to face for you.

So in a nutshell, what sets do you run on Mismagius? What impact do you think she has on the LU metagame? What do you believe is her best set? And what do you think are her best teammates / counters?

I have used Mismagius before in UU to good success. With all of the Fighting-types in LU, Mismagius can be a dangerous sweeper in the LU metagame. Cinccino may give her some problems, but she is really powerful after a boost.

I've been using Nasty Plot Mismasgius on my LU team, and no question it's going to be one of LU's most prominant Pokémon. It might push Rotom out, who knows? It's faster and more powerful. That said, it's quite easily killed due to its low physical bulk.
