    Monotype Viability Rankings

    Tier Definitions:
    • S Tier - Teams either cannot function without these Pokémon, or these Pokémon greatly aid the team in pressuring a multitude of types.
    • A Tier - Potent forces in the metagame that form powerful offensive and defensive cores. Not definitively required like S Tier, but they are normally central to one's strategy.
    • B Tier - Less dominating on the field, but with ample support they are able to threaten, cripple, or neutralize the opponent and support their teammates.
    • C Tier - Niche. These Pokémon provide useful support to their teammates, but cannot threaten teams on their own. Very little offensive or defensive presence.
    • D Tier - Outclassed. Possibly usable, but only as a gimmick.

Feel free to suggest additions and changes to these lists. If a Pokémon is not listed, that does not mean it shouldn't be suggested. I don't mind humor, but don't make an entire post just to troll.

When suggesting a change, be sure to clearly state what Pokémon you're talking about, what tiers it will be changing from/to, and what type you are referring to. It would be helpful to organize your posts by separating sections with headers. Limit your posts to one to three suggestions. Three is really pushing it in my opinion. Legitimate error corrections obviously don't count (typos, duplicates, etc in the list). This is to prevent unreadable walls of text.

Make good points and actual reasoning for moving the Pokémon in question. I will hand out infractions as necessary, which hopefully won't be too often. It's not really hard to make a good argument. Just be logical and avoid talking about things unrelated to strategy about the Pokémon.

I don't think types should be ranked because it may cause people to bandwagon certain types more than they already are.
Volcarona is listed twice in Bug.

I think Empoleon in water deserves C tier at least. It works well as a Rocker as well as being able to Defog just in case hazards get out of hand. It also is a neutrality to Grass moves and can run Scald/Ice beam to great effect. Emp has access to Roar too. It has good bulk making it a fairly decent defensive pivot. It has its niche as a Rocker on water type team that isn't easily replaceable. Swampert fills a similar role to it an arguably outclasses it so this is why I say C at the least.

Rotom-H isn't listed on electric. I think it's easily B tier. Fire STAB is great as it allows Rotom-H to get a huge advantage over Steel, Bug Grass and Ice teams. Zapdos and Manectric, coverage wise, are the closest things to Rotom-H, but Rotom-H has the ability to completely wall most Genesect sets and is a solid Fire resist.

I also think Scolipede should hit S rank on bug. Access to Swords Dance, Speed Boost, and excellent coverage moves make him a force to be reckoned with. Earthquake and Rock Slide mean that Fire and Flying types can't switch in willy nilly. Those two moves also have near perfect coverage together only accented by a choice of STAB in Megahorn or Poison Jab. Scolipede can also run a bulkier set primarily based on passing Speed and attack boosts to other Pokemon. It is easily one of the most dangerous and threatening Pokemon Mono Bug can run. Even with its slight case of 4mss Scolipede is an incredible Pokemon.

Volcarona is now in A tier.

Empoleon I agree with, didn't really think that through initially. Now C tier.

Honestly any Rotom form outside Wash or Mow (Freeze is weak to the omnipresent Rock moves on a ground team) is generally not worth using. Electric has very diverse typing between steels, waters, flyings, and so on that really mitigate genesect's power; Rotom-H honestly isn't needed and severely weakens your team to Ground (ground moves are almost always accompanied by rock). Throwing it in D tier for now.

Scolipede isn't anywhere near S tier. 60/89/69 defenses aren't really taking any hits which makes it extremely difficult to set up. It's dangerous, but that's really only if you can set up. Priority is also almost everywhere which makes sweeping extremely difficult. I could agree with A tier though, would like to see what other people think about this.

Also want to know what people think about Mega Pinsir. Initially I was considering just making bug S-tier consist solely of Genesect, but that seemed a bit empty at the time.

    Edit:
That was pretty much my main concern with it.

No ples, don't rank the types, every type have their strengths and weaknesses, so no point on put 1 over other.
Also, i don't see the point on having a D tier for every mono, the C tier is already used to mention all the niche mons; the mons on the D tier listed now have no presence on the monotype tier i think.
Now giving my 2 cents for every type: (prepare for wall of text lol)

    - Normal: with the ban of mega-kan, normal Kangaskhan is almost (never) used so idk if rank it or no. Lickilicky is very very rare too.
    - Fighting: Mega medicham for S tier i think, becos its coverage + priority makes it almost uncounterable (also psychic neutrality)
    - Flying: Zapdos i think is A tier now, pretty much every monofly uses it now like deffoger, also have very good special bulk, recover and neutrality to electric. Megachar-Y is definitively S tier. Staraptor is listed twice, B tier maybe becos totally outclassed by Talonflame.
    - Poison: Ariados is actually pretty niche, i understand it have Sticky web, but is almost never seen, probably for C tier. Dragalge for C tier too, it have good bulk and good coverage to act like niche mon. Finally Muk>Garbodor (although i could banish both if it was me lol)
    - Ground: Donphan for C tier, even rapid spin don't save it to be outclassed. Quagsire is listed twice, i think B tier because unaware is a godsend again setup sweepers. Nidoqueen is listed twice as well, im still unsure about her, on one hand its outclassed by Nidoking like attacker, but on the other hand it can act like a bulky hazard setter, so idk.
    - Rock: Don't have much experience with monorock so not sure if Cradily can be put on A tier, stopping water spam and neutrality to grass is good. Also Lunatone have a small niche like fighting counter (with Rock Polish), while being immune to ground, so maybe add it to C tier? idk
    - Bug: Mega Pinsir is listed twice, yeah its S tier. Although Galvantula is pretty good with sticky web and all, i dont think it deserves A tier, my thought was B tier. Put Armaldo on B tier, it's a valid rapid spinner substitute to Forretress, and have offensive presence again monoflying. And Ariados and Leavanny pls no, banish them.
    - Ghost: Mega Banette for B tier, becos have good offenses (+ shadow sneak like priority) and can stop setup sweepers with priority destiny bond/ will o wisp.
    - Steel: Scizor (and mega scizor) for S tier, becos i mean comon it's scizor :3 :3 :3
    - Fire : all good!
    - Water: Rotom-W could be A tier, becos neutrality to electric, good bulk, maintain momentum with volt switch, and thunder wave, w-o-w and trick are too good to pass up. Azumarill is A tier too, becos fairy stab is good again dragons, plus it have priority and also belly drum azumarill is a thing now.
    - Grass: all good, except why roselia? toh
    - Electric: all good, but Galvantula in S tier no pls >.<
    - Psychic: Mega medicham for S tier, for same reasons of first (also dark neutrality). Meloetta for A tier too becos is the best answer again monoghost now. And add Sigilyph like C tier too.
    - Ice: looks good :D
    - Dragon: dont have much experience with it lately, but i think all good :3 (maybe Flygon like C tier but idk)
    - Dark: good too!
    - Fairy: my though is put Klefki on A tier, because although good like supporter mon, it lacks absolutely offensive presence.

well thats all, hope it is helpful

I have honestly never even tried Mega Pinsir on my MonoBug teams so I can't say for the time being. I could also settle for Scolipede in A tier as it definitely is a threat.

    @.Rawr!
Mega Cham's Psychic neutrality is almost irrelevant because of its piss poor bulk.
Garbodor can lay down hazards. Muk can't. Also Muk needs to set up to be relevant offensively. Defensively it doesn't do much, but overall not a bad mon.
Cradily is one of those anchor mons on Rock. It does so much for it defensively that I completely agree with the tiering. Lunatone is garbage. lol
Galvantula does so more more than Stick Web. It actually hits pretty hard and gets nice coverage. Leavanny and Ariados are niche webbers primarily.
Mega Banette is not actually very good. Like at all. It can "revenge" with Dbond and get priority Taunt. Gengar is better with the former and Sableye is better with the latter.
Based purely off of definition, Azu is kind of in the middle of A and B. I can't really decide between top tier B or bottom tier A. I use mono water quite a bit and the BD is so much less effective (on mono water) than in OU. Azu in general is just not as much of a threat.
Galv is even better on Ele than it is on Bug imo. It is quite the nice Poke in monotype. I enjoy it quite a bit.
For Mega Medi I think it's fine where it is. It isn't spectacular on Mono Psy and the Dark neutrality is again kinda meaningless with its awful awful bulk.
Klefki is a god on Mono Fairy. It doesn;'t have great options and Klefki provides unrivaled support. It gets Spikes, Twave, Screens, and can run an annoying and often times ineffective offensive set with Iron Defense/Calm Mind/Draining Kiss/Filler

I've decided against it already, if it wasn't clear by my previous post + no progress in doing so. Only nitpick I wanted to make is that there are types that are overall better to build with than others like Rock and Ice.

Klefki is literally the glue that makes 90% of Fairy teams able to pull together teammates who otherwise wouldn't work well together with Spikes to help Mawile/Azu/Garde sweep and Screens/Twave to bring a swift end to most sweeps.

So I'm going to address why I'm not addressing a lot of these. If they're about usage they're going to be ignored. If you want usage stats you can check the stats page. It'll be a lot more accurate. The point of this thread is to rank the Pokemon's abilities in their respective types.

Agreed. All of the S tier pokes in fighting are able to either deal and take a lot of damage or counter a specific type. Medicham's neutrality doesn't really help the team at all with how frail it is. If you're wondering why Conkeldurr is there, it's because of how long it can stay in the match, take hits, and remove items/cripple pokes. The rest should be pretty obvious with mixed offenses/unique types/ability to counter Fairy and Flying.

Agreeing on Garbodor and hazards as well. Hazards are amazing in Monotype with their ability to lower the survivability of counters and switch-ins, which can often be limited to only 1 or 2. Accidentally left Mega Pinsir in A tier. Meloetta moving up sounds like a good idea to me. I've seen a lot of players use it quite well to counter Ghosts. Fighting neutrality is nice to since it's neutral to a non-stab coverage move ghost's tend to carry, which goes a long way.

Another thing, keep your posts to one or two suggestions at a time. I'm going to add this rule to the OP. It's completely ridiculous to read walls of text with so many subjects like that.

I would also like to recant my statement about Scolipede passing boosts. That's usually not a very good idea in MONOtype. My bad.

I can definitely see Meloetta moving up to A tier in Psychic. It is a really solid mon that can serve more that one purpose besides just adding a Ghost immunity. It is a fantastic offensive mon with excellent coverage and decent support moves. Not quite S material but definitely an upper tier A mon. I know last gen I ran a mixed set to quite a bit of success and want to try the same thing with AV instead of Life Orb. Maybe even using Work Up on an offensive set but this hasn't been tested yet (by me) so don't take it into account.

We should also discuss Diance's ranks. I am not sure it is very viable on Rock teams, but will test a bit later, but it is actually quite solid on Fairy teams. I can see it hitting B rank minimum. It literally outclasses Carbink in every imaginable fashion. Has good bulk, reliably sets up screens, and set up Trick Room, and has reliable offensive stats and Sharpen+CM as boosting moves. I've toyed around with it a bit and it is a lovely mon. My experience with it isn't as high as I'd like, but it is enough to say it is definitely one of the better choices.

Okay so I adjusted Monowater with the recent Drizzle ban. Pretty much did a once-over glance and removed politoed and lowered a few of the swift swimmers.

Nice 3 votes. The monotype support is through the roof. I can actually see Kingdra potentially dropping to B rank. I'm not 100% sure on this yet as I have found it mostly a dead weight without Rain support, but Rain support is so easy.... Idk. It fits the power description in A, but requires the support of B, at least in my opinion.

Should not we add the ORAS Megas into the list?
Suggestions: Diancie can be added into the B or C rank of the Rock Type. It's stats and usable movepool enable it to hit the entire Dragon Monotype with enough given support. However even with solid coverage moves like Earth Power or HP Fire it is unable to fend off MonoSteel and/or Steel types moves altogether (MonoSteel wins regardless) Its ability magic bounce is extremely useful in dealing with Ghost teams running semi stall as it bounces statuses back at the user and also KOs Sableye and 2-3HKOs most of the others mentioned bar Aegi and Great Gengar. Jellicent can tank all its special moves and has a change of disabling its Diamond Storm but with a 2HKO chance its not much viable.
It can be a very good sand abuser too and it can be seen when dealing with both Rock and Ground (Eh that's just me testing stuff) But going to ground we have have sand rush Exca which outspeeds and OHKOs without any reliable switch in the sand. It also dies to Prio Bullet Punch from Scizor and Metagross (Mega and None Mega for both) But it being a powerful nuke makes switching in to it a pain a lot of times especially when you are running water, psychic or the aforementioned dragon.

P.S If you want me to check against other types as well, I'll be happy just reply. Also I am currently testing Gyarados-M, I am will test Metagross-M next.

Mega Pidgeot [Normal] --> S Tier

Compared to the rest of the Normal mons, this thing is pretty strong. Although not too versatile, it does its job well. No Guard Hurricane + Heat Wave hits most things except for Rock-types and Heatran.

Mega Pidgeot [Flying] --> B Tier

You could use much better Megas when you have things like Mega Gyarados / Mega Charizard-X. It's not bad though, just not as good as some other mons you could use in Flying.

Mega Metagross [Steel] --> S Tier

Really versatile in its movepool and hits really hard. Most run Meteor Mash / Zen Headbutt / Hammer Arm (or EQ) / Filler. The filler move can be whatever your team can't handle when it comes to threats, giving you some choice in the dynamic of your team. You can also run Rock Polish to do serious damage to offensive teams.

Mega Metagross [Psychic] --> S Tier

Some good defensive typing for Mono-Psychic team. Like above, you can base your moveset around what your team is weak to. Not really much to say other than it is really effective at what it does.

Mega Lopunny [Normal] --> S Tier

Pretty exciting new Mega for Mono-Normal teams. Good for hitting both Mono-Steel / Ghost teams, both types being annoying for Mono-Normal to deal with.

I'll post what I think of other Megas later but here is something to discuss in the meantime. Feel free to agree/disagree.

Also, I think other mons will have to be changed because of the presence of the new Megas, but I'll get to that later.

I agree with pretty much what @Raducan posted except Mega Pidgeot for normals. While it have accurate Hurricanes and speed, it still don't hit hard enough, so it can still be walled for your spe def wall like Togekiss, Latias, even mandibuzz tho etc.. Also, like a walbreaker is outclassed pretty much by Staraptor, which does the role much better and dont take ur megaslot. It also let u run the other megas which are far better: everyone knows how good Megabunny is, and Mega Audino is amazingly good in mono normal (it can even sweep fighting monos with its calm mind set)

Mega Sableye for S tier in both Ghost and Dark: If played well this.thing.simply.can't.die. A monoattacker set with Calm mind, will-o-wisp, recover and ur attack of preference is too strong, also it can't be statused or phazed away becos Magic Bounce, and u can even play smart and wait to mega evolve it to W-o-w some counter with prankster of its normal form.

Mega Altaria for S tier in monodragon and A-S tier (still unsure) on monoflying: In monodragon I find funny how dragon vs dragon matchups passed from focus sash/multiscale battles to "who kill the opponent mega altaria first". Anyways, this thing is strong, and can run either Physical sets with DD or special sets and it can even help its team with Heal Bell. In monoflying it have a bit of competition from Mega Char-x but still strong.

Mega Audino for A tier: reason is what i wrote in the start pretty much.

Mega Diancie for S tier in monofairy and A tier on monorock: In monofairy Mega diancie is now the preferred mega by far, outclassing mega gardy. Magic Bounce let it avoid nasty status and with strong stabs and good speed it do well, it can even run Rock Polish to sweep. In monorock it still do well, but monorocks almost always prefer Mega Aggron so meh..

Mega Beedrill for S tier in mono poison : beedrill has very good potential in poison mono because it has a very powerful stab u-turn that can be very helpful for the type to give the team momentum and beat threatening psychic types (mostly ohko), its speed and power let it compete with venusaur for the mega slot, more so since poison has other viable grass/poison mons in amoonguss (or roserade), it even has a couple of added bonuses in outspeeding and ohko the occasional scarf timid garde and togekiss, it might not be a huge deal but it's definitely a good thing to have.

Golbat for B tier in mono poison : golbat might not be the best offensively but it can be very good at supporting the team, with being the only pokemon alongside crobat to be able to defog without worrying about the ground weakness, which will let it remove hazards for beedrill scolipede etc, and with its additional bulk from evio it will be able to defog multiple times unlike crobat. It can also taunt/haze which are nice options to have as well.

And maybe you should remove genesect from steel/bug rankings and mega mawile from steel RIP

Made these changes. Agree on Golbat and I've seen how good Mega Beedrill is on MonoPoison firsthand. Might rank it in MonoBug, but it probably isn't as good there.

Personally I'm unsure on Diancie. It hasn't performed as consistently as an S-tier mon should. I'm sort of debating dropping Mega Gardevoir to A-tier as well. I moved Mega Sableye to S-tier in both since it's basically the best mon that both types have, the support it brings to teams is godly. Mega Altaria is very good, but it sounds like you want it to go up based on the fact that it's S-tier is the Dragon matchup, which doesn't consider the large number of other types like Psychic, Water, Ground, Steel, etc. that can deal with it relatively easily. Not saying it can't be S-tier, but there needs to be more justification.

Also Staraptor and Mega Pidgeot are not wall breakers lol. They break no walls that are meant to wall their side of the physical/special spectrum. Breaking a wall doesn't equate with being a wall breaker. CB Scizor certainly kills Blissey with Superpower, yet that doesn't make it a wall breaker. It's still clearly walled/checked by defensive threats like Landorus-T, Skarmory, Gliscor, and so on. It's a pivot. Mega Pidgeot and Staraptor both tend to take the roles of pivots and late-game cleaners. They are in no way meant to break walls, which coincidentally is not the criteria for S-tier (how well it wallbreaks can be the reasoning though).

Unsure on Mega Lopunny, I'd like to hear more about it tbh. Mega Metagross is kind of *the* Mega for MonoPsychic and Steel (one of at least). The description you gave for Mega Pidgeot in MonoNormal kind of just sounded like B-tier. Not too versatile and and just does the job well, not great.

Not sure of Metagross being S rank in Psychic as it has lost neutrality to both Dark and Ghost making it susceptible to KOs from Foul Play users. LO Bisharp is still a threat even with Hammer Arm/EQ since even at full health.
    252+ Atk Life Orb Defiant Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP/4 Def Tough Claws Mega Metagross: 257 - 304 (85.4 - 101%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
Unless it (rarely) runs Grass Knot, it is blocked by bulky waters like Slowbro, MegaBro and Rotom-W (even though it might get 2HKOd by Zen Headbutt)
Mega Sableye totally blocks off Metagross further shoving it off with WoW and the almost all the ghosts mainly used in MonoGhost are highly threatening to not just Meta but its entire team. Even though Hammer Arm is highly useful against Dark types the speed drop is not exactly appreciated for the speed based sweeper and Pokemon like Bisharp, Mega Houndoom, Mega Houndoom etc will come in an KO.

Agreed with the S Rank with MonoFairy but A in rock is just kinda pushing it. It retains its 4x Steel weakness and it still suspectible to Steel RKillers.. (Scarf Zone and Scizor) also I have written about in an earlier post, give a check.

If you think about it, Mega Diancie does outspeed and OHKO most fighting types (bar hawlucha for outspeed and bulky coba for ohko), and fighting could be something rock would struggle with? i dont really have an opinion, or really a valid opinion as to what rank m diancie is, but it's still a 110 speed 160/160 pokemon, and with its moveset it could deserve an A spot (in mono rock).

I dunno, I think Mega Metagross is arguably the best mega Psychic has. 700 BST is incredible whatever way you look at it - in fact it ties with Kyurem-B and fellow megas Tyranitar and Garchomp for the highest BST allowed in Monotype. And it's not like it has those stats in the wrong places - 110 Speed is great, 14 5 Attack with Tough Claws boosting most of its moves is great, and 80/150/110 defences are some of the best you'll see on anything that isn't a wall. Oh and about it getting walled by M-Sableye:

252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP/252+ Def Magic Bounce Mega Sableye: 132 - 156 (43.4 - 51.3%) -- 90.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

    Definite S Rank mon.

I agree that M metagross is definitely S material, but i would argue it being the BEST psychic mega. I've used and faced psychic quite a lot, and find that M medicham and gallade are on several occasions more beneficial to the team, medicham can handle steel and dark very well, and gallade has knock off for ghost which both medi and gross lack, especially with it speed tie-ing/outspeeding all non scarf ghosts.

Edit : I just noticed M gallade isn't ranked so here it goes:

Mega Gallade for S rank: As i mentioned above, a fighting type with access to knock off/shadow sneak can be very beneficial to psychic mono, since it provides the team more ways to deal with dark/ghost which psy usually struggles with, as long as helping to be an answer for steel which can be considered as having an advantage over the type, as a bonus, it's also not "weak" to bug, only neutral. With, an impressive 110 speed with 165 attack, coupled with decent defense in 95/115 and access to SD makes me consider it worthy of being S rank.

Agreed with that.. I find it more useful than Mega Metagross in many cases and unless you face Birdspam (which is getting too damn rare imo) It can wreck all of your team with Dark/Fighting/Psychic Coverage which is unresisted.

Why is Mega Ampharos C tier for Mono Electric? Yes it's slow, but it's the most powerful Special Attacker Mono Electric has, it's got great offensive typing and it can even sweep with Agility. It should be at least a B IMO. A few new additions:

Mega Lopunny: S Rank. Arguably the best mega Mono Normal has, excellent Speed, great Attack and thanks to Scrappy perfect neutral coverage on its STABs. Also a huge help against Steel, Ghost and Rock.

Mega Diancie: A Rank (maybe S) for Mono Fairy, B for Mono Rock. It's faster and more powerful than Mega Gardevoir, and can fill several roles - it can be an offensive hazard setter, a special sweeper and a mixed wallbreaker. Mega Aggron is usually the superior choice for Mono Rock, but it does give some much needed Speed

Mega Camerupt: B Rank for Mono Fire, C for Mono Ground. Nice to have a Pokémon that isn't weak to Rocks on Mono Fire, and is a nice weapon against (Mega) Tyranitar which can wreck Mono Fire teams once Infernape's gone. As for Mono Ground, it can defeat Ice types but overall Nidoking and Landorus-I do most of what it does with better Speed and without taking your mega slot

Mega Beedrill: A Rank for Mono Bug. Extremely fast, and Adaptability gives it the most powerful U-turn besides Band Scizor

Mega Steelix: C for Mono Steel, C for Ground. It has better offensive typing than Mega Aggron, but Mega Aggron is even bulkier thanks to Filter and has a better movepool. On Mono Ground Hippowdon is a better wall as it can hold Leftovers and has reliable recovery. Pretty meh all round.

Mega Audino: C Rank. Neutral to Fighting, which is nice for Mono Normal, and can be a good cleric/bulky Special Sweeper.

Mega Glalie: C Rank. All it does is set up Spikes and die, and Froslass can already do that. Glalie is quite a bit more powerful though, and that Refrigerate boosted Explosion is no joke.

Mega Gallade: A Rank for Fighting and Psychic. 165 Attack with 110 Speed is excellent, and with the perfect neutral coverage of its STABs with Knock Off make it tough to stop. It is hard countered by Mega Sableye though, who Mono Psychic and Fighting both already have issues with, hence why I don't think it should get S. Also, it's ability's crap.

Mega Sceptile: A Rank. Extremely fast, pretty powerful and versatile.

    Will add more later.

Mega Altaria- To S or A in MonoDragon for having a dragon immunity and the highly useful ability Pixilate. It's Balanced stat spread and usable movepool makes it the go to mega for MonoDragon and it's physical force is further enhanced with Dragon Dance which combined with a usually simple Normal type move becomes a nasty Physical Fairy move. WoW users like Sableye are easily punished with Facade but since it is hard countered by Skarm, Altaria can also utilize a special set. It can do clerical work which was usually done by Healing Wish Latias which is bad actually. Overall it is a very useful addition into Dragon.
FOR FLYING- It could be an better option over Zard X which is SR weak and it pairs up really well with Skarm which helps against all of its weaknesses and phazes away prominent threats. It becomes a dominant force against Electric once it is has setup and EQ+Pixilated Normal Move is enough for wreck these. Also instead of repeating stuff Mega Alataria adds in all those traits that it has in MonoDragon. For me it is an A.

That was the word, late-game cleaners. My bad tho.

After think (and play) with it a bit more, i agree megadiancie in monorocks don't works like i thought first, so B rank i think is kay.

Btw, I still agree with Megagross being S rank in both psychic and steel types. Its bulk, speed and power right off the bat makes it an pain to switch in, with only things like slowbro/megabro countering it. Also it have a good chance to even raise its attack using its more powerful move, so my gadh...

I've been testing some things and have formed some opinion regarding the current viability rankings. I've mostly been using Water, Dragon, and Fairy and will probably work with some less popular types next.

    Water
I think Mega Sharpedo deserves B tier. I'm still not quite sure which one I'd but it in as it'd be high B or low A (which we are not discerning between so it's a little iffy so I'll play it safe). Water is the only type that I currently think can function well, if not better without a Mega. Even though I believe this is the case, Mega Sharpedo is a pretty solid mon that can very easily turn the tides of an entire match. It doesn't make any of Water's bad match ups and easier, and can push some more neutral match ups in Water's favor. It needs a fair amount of support to really shine, but overall isn't a bad option.

Kingdra to B tier - The loss of perma rain REALLY hurts Kindgra. Still not a bad mon, just not a go-to choice anymore.

Mega Gyarados if an iffy mon and I'd love to see some discussion about it. I personally believe there is never a reason to use it over Normal Gyara, especially since Mega Sharpedo is now a thing, but I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts.

Empoleon to A tier - I know I previously said C. It is a go to on literally all of my MonoWater teams because Rocks + Defog+ Not instantly losing to Volc are HUGE pluses. Being able to tank some moves and beat all of Bug's Spinners/Defogers/Rocks users 1 on 1 (except Scizor in some cases) is key to that match up. (I'd even settle for B tier because I believe it's the best Rocks user on Water).

Starmie to B tier - although it gets great coverage and hits pretty hard Starmie has been basically unchanged while everything around it has gotten better. Other mons can do similar, if not the same job as Starmie but better.

Azumarill to A tier - Not only does it beat Ferrothorn, one of the hardest mons for Water to deal with, but it also plays a pivotal role in matchups against Dark/Dragon/Ghost/Psychic/Water/Fighting. Being able to have solid bulk as well as dent, if not 0hko (as a banded set) a large portion of mons mentioned on the types above definitely helps water. Being able to tank hits with Assault Vest against Psychic and opposing Water teams can be a huge boost as well. While I don't typically recommend it, Azu can run a BD set on Water and dismantle some of the cores it was difficulty dealing with.

Mega Slowbro to A tier – Being one of the bulkiest non-Ubers in the game, Mega Slowbro plays a fantastic role on Mono Water. Being able to even out Special/Physical walls with Empoleon and Gastrodon, as well as being able to wall and cripple a large portion of the Metagame. Scald and Twave are great options to status opposing teams, and because of great natural bulk, Mega Slowbro can effectively run an offensive set utilizing either CM/Rest, CM/Recover, or just Slack Off + 3 Attacks.

I’ll eventually get around to playing with Mega Pert, but meh. Not being able to freely abuse Swift Swim is no fun. Feraligatr might move up cause Sheer Force but I still need to test that.

    Dragon
Mega Altaria to S tier – Mega Alt is THE win condition against other MonoDragon teams. Playing similar to Volc in MonoBug dittos pre-Mega Pinsir, whoever sets up Alt first typically wins. Mega Alt adds a nice Dragon immunity as well as helping out with the Steel match up a lot. Mixed DD sets fare the best against Steel, while Bulkier DD/Special sets with Heal Bell make status Altaria an ineffective way of handling it. Mega Alt also gives Dragon an immediate advantage against Fighting, and Dark as well as making Steel easier to manage.

Dragalge to B tier – Getting Adaptability is basically the reason for this. Dragalge is a good mon, but by no means necessary to a MonoDragon team. Dragalge hits incredibly hard with or without Specs and can provide key against MonoFairy teams. It gets good coverage but lacks Speed and doesn’t contribute as much as other options in vast majority of cases.

Tyrantrum to B tier – Very similar to Dragagle in a new ability helped its viability a ton. While it still has many shortcomings, Tyrantrum has a nice niche that when supported properly can become a huge threat. It is by no means bad, but it is often outclassed by its counterparts.

    Fairy
No spoiler cause only one mon. No spoiler looks weird
Mega Diancie to S tier- 160/160/100 offenses is fantastic and helps MonoFairy gain offensive pressure. Diance has a fantastic move pool, but suffers from a case of 4MSS. Protect/Earth Power/Psychock/Moonblast/HP Fire/Diamond Storm/Calm Mind are all viable options with different coverages and shine in different situations. Diancie can bounce hazards and status as well as hit like a truck. Often time carrying the weight of the offense on its shoulders. Honestly don't feel like this one needs much explaining, but Mega Diancie is almost necessary on MonoFairy.

@Celebi. I think that Azumarill deserves S rank in Monowater: it can set up with BellyDrum, cripple with Knock off, and for the grass haters it can run sap sipper ( even though it's bad)

Mega Gyara is A potential, the DD Taunt/substitute variants are very good and provide a big answer to ghost and Psyshic

    Agreed with other waters

Dragalge deserves A- in dragon, as an AV bulky set limitates Fairy special spam and that's huge for Dragons.

Tyrantrum is a bad poke in Mono: Garchomp sets better the rocks, a lot of poke csn run Band like Dnite ( + priority) and Salamence outclass it in DD variants. C for me imO

Mega Diancie S obv, it's one of the best poke of the game and It provokes so many switches that it's hardly Ko'ed

I'm willing to fight for Mega Slowbro being S Tier in water. Having such great stats and movepool, it can assume many roles exceptionally.

Unlike the other walls in Mono-Water, Mega Slowbro actually has some decent offensive presence, making it a pain to deal with. If it gets up some Calm Minds, there is very little you can do to it. And due to its high defense stat, you don't even need to fully invest in it; this opens some options for Mega Slowbro and makes it pretty versatile.

    Here are some calcs:

    252 Atk Victini Bolt Strike vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Slowbro: 142-168 (36 - 42.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

    252 Atk Mega Absol Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Slowbro: 144-170 (36.5 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

    252+ Atk Black Glasses Bisharp Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Slowbro: 164-194 (41.6 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

You can pretty much get away with 0 defense investment and put it in Special Attack if you want more offensive presence or Special Defense if want it to be tankier.

Also: I removed Greninja from the list because banned.

    Mono Grass

    Mega Sceptile ---> A Tier
Gives Mono Grass a MUCH needed speed boost. Suffers stiff competition from Mega Venusar as a Mega and Serperior as a Special Attacker. Scep has a niche niche over Venu as it's a fast offensive option (Venu can be offensive as well, just lacks speed), and over Serperior as it breaks Steel cores better by not having to choose between HP Ground/Fire and scares Dragons more easily. Serp needs to

    Serperior ---> A/S Tier
Contrary Leaf Storm + Coverage, nuff' said.

I think Amoonguss could probably be dropped a bit 'cause it's not really great and doesn't add much. it's completely outclassed by Mega Venusaur.
I'm gonna keep toying around with the type and try to find some gems. Lilligant could also be dropped because complete lack of coverage, and Tangrowth as well because it doesn't add anything significant to the type imo. All 3 to C tier I think

I've been playing with MonoGrass a lot and playing defensively is definitely not the way to go.

if you are still updating this, you forgot Kingdra on monodragon. At least it should deserve a C due to the ice neutrality and the ground-sweeping potential of the rain set (monoground have big walls to take on dragons, it's interesting at least)

I just noticed that there was some discussion on Mega Loppunny but it is nowhere in Normal.
It deserves a S as combined with scrappy and Fighting stabs is a complete steel killer (uhu after skarms dead that is) and it fits reallyl well in MonoNormal teams.

I think Mew is S Rank worthy as it can be a very decent SR setter. Plus I have used SD Mew (ZHB/Sucker/Drain) which is a pretty useful. And there are probably many more ways to run Mew in psy given it's stats and move pool.
    So yes S.

so clefable on fairy A to S.
it is the most reliable rocks setter on fairy and the cosmic power to an extent can 6-0 steel teams, as long as phasing is gone. yellow magic cm is also good as ever. unaware isn't the best on clef but even then it provides a nice check to huge threats to fairy such as scizor because scizor cant ohko clefable with any one move if clef is indeed unaware, and clef can retaliate with the hilarious counter, (this works and is funny af lol) or fire blast, counter if you don't wanna miss and like risks. so yeah clefable A to S. I support.

mandibuzz on dark, A to S:

next mon, which is mandibuzz from A to S on dark. right off the bat gonna say I support. This is because of how mega sableye, tyranitar and mandibuzz function together. as a core together they are all very, very good. Mandi itself supports dark massively, with hazard removal and key resistances to fighting and bug, and the ability to hit them super effectively with brave bird. along with sableye this alleviates tyranitars fighting weakness, as well as keeping hazards off the field in conjunction with sableye. so as I said and bolded earlier I support mandibuzz A to S.

mega houndoom+ mega absol on dark, A to B

The reason I said these should be lowered was because I thought mega sableye was unbanned. (mistake on my part) the power and immunitites (to status) these mons have can be invaluable to certain teams as well as both have very good sweeping capabilities. leave both at A rank.

    Gallade(non-mega) B to A on psychic:

So this has a few tools which it can use to its advantage. With an assault vest this maintains massive special bulk, and even avoids the 2hko from timid megazardY's air slash. Now that's bulk, it can then retaliate with rock slide and ohko. The set I run is ,rock slide, shadow sneak, knock off, drain punch. depending on your mega you should use a different assault vest user on psychic. If your mega is mega medicham, then meloetta compliments that nicely with her special attacking capabilities. If you pick mega gardevoir gallade compliments her nicely. So I support whole heartedly gallade B to A.

Mew A to S on psychic:

Mew is by far the best stealth rock user on psychic, and can even run defog too. it can cripple attackers with will-o-wisp. in my opinion this is its best set, but it is so diverse you never know what set a mew is running, as it can learn every TM in the game. I support A to S.

Luxray B to A on electric:

Luxray in my opinion is the best electric physical attacker, as with a choice band and guts, what it has over its competitors(thundurus and electrivire) is 1) priority (quick attack) 2) higher base attack than both of them off the bat,3) better coverage. So yeah without the guts boost a minimum roll on porgon2 is over 50 percent. electric usually struggles with the normal match up, but not anymore with luxray. n_n I support luxray B to A.
