== General == With a face like a plague doctor and a cry like a cow on Nitrous Oxide, Aromatisse does not at first look like a good choice of pokemon. However, with impressive overall bulk, pure Fairy typing, and an impressive support movepool, Aromatisse quickly became the LU tier's leading cleric. It is as slow as molasses, at just a mere base 29 Speed, however the bulk and power it packs make up for this. It even has a brilliant signature ability in Aroma Veil, which prevents it from being Taunted or Encored. This means Aromatisse can function as a wall without fear. Like all pokemon however, it has its flaws. Other than the awful Speed stat, Aromatisse is also a bit of a one trick pony. Its attacking movepool is decent, but not enough to let it threaten offensively, and the ubiquitous Doublade and (Mega) Aggron wall it hopelessly, due to it rarely - if ever - packing an attacking move other than Moonblast or Toxic. This therefore means that Aromatisse needs proper support to survive in the tier, which is somewhat ironic for a wall, as they're usually supposed to do the supporting. However, when all is said and done, Aromatisse is a solid choice for a cleric in LU. It may not be all that versatile, but there's one thing that it does really well, and that's all it needs. == Cleric == Aromatisse @ Leftovers Ability: Aroma Veil EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Bold nature (+Def, -Atk) -Wish -Protect -Aromatherapy -Moonblast / Toxic This is Aromatisse's flagship set, and about the only thing you'll see it doing in LU, or any other tier for that matter. As with all Wishing Clerics, the first three moves are pretty much self-explanatory. Wish and Protect keep Aromatisse healthy and able to pass its incredible 203 HP Wishes to recipients, while Aromatherapy keeps the party status free. Moonblast and Toxic are the available options in slot 4. Moonblast is by far the more recommended option, because not only does it give Aromatisse's very respectable base 99 Special Attack something to do, it also hits Aromatisse's inevitable switch ins - Steel-types - for at least some damage. Toxic is listed as a back slash because it can help Aromatisse break into opposing walls and, unlike most walls, it doesn't fear being Taunted because of Aroma Veil. Toxic is only recommended if you can deal with opposing Poison- and Steel-types however, as they'll be the ones switching into Aromatisse more often than not. The aforementioned Aroma Veil is the only ability worth considering for Aromatisse, as Healer is only useable in double or triple battles, and immunity to Taunt, Encore and similar is a highly coveted ability. The EVs are configured physically defensive to take advantage of Aromatisse's useful bulk and typing. The Leftovers are the non-negotiable hold item, passively restoring Aromatisse's HP. It's not like it would need any other hold item anyway, as it can't be Taunted, and wouldn't need a Lum Berry because it has Aromatherapy at its disposal. The Rocky Helmet could be considered to better ward off physical attackers, however the Leftovers are still greatly preferred. == Other Options == Dual Screening is something else Aromatisse can do, but rarely does. Immunity to being Taunted is a niche that doesn't seem to be exploited. The same applies to Trick Room, which Aromatisse can fully abuse with its miserable base 29 Speed. Investing fully in Special Defence can be done, however leaving its Defence stat uninvested will render it highly vulnerable to most physical attackers. Offensive sets aren't out of the question, but aren't wise. However, Aromatisse has a nice base 99 Special Attack and Moonblast, Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Flash Cannon, Psychic/shock and various Hidden Powers. Setting up Sunny Day or Rain Dance for the team is something else Aromatisse can do. Rest and Sleep Talk are in its movepool, but considered far inferior to Wish and Aromatherapy. Disable is also... there. == Checks and Counters == As previously mentioned in the analysis, common Steel-types like Doublade, (Mega) Aggron and Magneton shut Aromatisse down effortlessly. They can't stop it from supporting its team, however it can't do a damn thing to them unless it runs Hidden Power Ground or something specifically for them. The same applies to bulky Poison-types like Nidoqueen and Golbat, however the latter needs to remember that it can't Taunt Aromatisse. If you're planning on actually stopping Aromatisse from using its support moves, good luck. It can't be Taunted. However, it isn't immune to being Tricked a Choice item, having its supporting moves Snatched away from it, or simply being battered to death by strong attackers. The former two tactics are exceedingly rare in LU however, so battering it is the recommended course of action. Outside of the previously listed Poison- and Steel-types, simple hard hitters like Rhyperior and Choice Specs Exploud are more than welcome to join, however beware that Aromatisse's Moonblast will also hit them relatively hard due to their lack of resistances. Seeing as Aromatisse rarely attacks though, anything with powerful STABs that hits for neutral or better damage can consider itself at least a decent answer to Aromatisse. It's hard not to outrun, and even with investment isn't terribly bulky.
