I'm not a fan of Katy Perry and designs look ok.
Update: jk i'm second xdd
I've been told that her body is disproportionate. Imo she does look a bit weird.
Katy Perry was pretty nice to talk to, would be cool to see her around in indigo again.
Oh you mean the big tits celebrity don't you? She certainly has good sized fun bags, and is decent to look at otherwise. Not that much of a fan of pop songs that don't have a bit of rock in them, but her superbowl performance was exceptional.
I really wish Blanche didn't look so bland. His entire design screams "generic water/ice trainer."
Candela looks a lot like Casca, the first two have cool names with basic origins but Spark really gets the short stick, like Team Instinct seems to be getting it since the beginning.
Katy Perry's images of grasping a mic shows experience. Only remotely notable thing about her. I guess she's a bit cute and her songs are decent enough.
Candela is hot af, makes me happy I did Team Valor. I just think she fits really well with the theme without just being a fire / flames motif or Moltres' color scheme or w/e. Blanche having that androgyny look going with her is pretty legit haha, and she also exudes that calm motif Mystic has. Spark is definitely the most lackluster of them all and looks like that cute college frat boy that is a dipshit. Hoping we get to see what they are going to add to Go in the long run. Maybe Spark will impress?
Songs are catchy, done well for herself, would shag.
They're a bit eh imo. As a member of team Mystic, I think Valor > Mystic > Instinct for leader designs.
Question for July 26th, 2016: What is the most pointless Pokemon (in terms of lore, power... however you wanna read it)?
Erm... hasn't this question literally been asked this month? Me and a few others agreed it was Unown, right?
EDIT: Previous question was "worst". This one is "pointless". My answer doesn't change.
A lot of Gen II pokemon come to mind like Ledian, Ariados, Girafarig, Stantler and a lot of other shits if Gen IV hadn't come around to save them. Then there is stuff like Kricketune, Mothim, Carnivine, Maractus and Lumineon who are all around bad and boring.
At least Unown has the lore that men derived the alphabet from it or something.
Delibird is pointless for me.
But Delibird has the great irony of being able to learn both Rapid Spin and Defog while being 4x weak to Stealth Rocks! How is that pointless!
If it was worse, it would be Unown, for obvious reasons, but since you mentioned "pointless" and lore, then that would put it well above the rest of the gutter, with the whole alphabet thing going on.
Many pokemon are facsimile imitations of others in terms of animal they were based off (v.g. Feraligatr and Krookodile, Blastoise and Carracosta), with others coming even closer in terms of stats and typing (v.g. Swampert and Seismitoad).
But Maractus is just fucking Cacturne, except suckier in every single aspect. It gets Water Absorb instead of Dry Skin, no extra typing, no strong stats and way of boosting them. It gets Chlorophyll, but i would rather use fucking Sunflora for that role. Or, you know, any other that gets that ability.
EDIT: You gon learn today!
Magikarp and Delibird are pretty fucking useless, but they are so bad they gathered some notoriety, especially Magikarp. Delibird also being a personal favorite of a former notorious user from PO.
Maractus got its own anime episode, like every other pokemon, except for the ones that aren't racist, fry japanese kids' brains or allude to earthquakes. And then nothing other than a few cameos as an extra. (I actually checked this).
It's also really hard to catch, hardly ever getting a spot on a player's team in the main games (Nuzkockes i guess). 10% encounter rate at Desert Resort, where i can catch Sandile, Darumaka and Scraggy? No thanks! Not available at XY? Ok! ORAS? 10% encounter rate at Mirage Island, the Feebas of locations.
Fuck you Maractus.
Most pointless is Phione.
Inferior clone of Manaphy with lesser, Glalie-like stats and nothing significant that Manaphy gets (like Tail Glow or Heart Swap), and often banned in competitions for being a Legendary. It has no niche whatsoever and exists to be Manaphy's shadow forever.
Are we going to ignore all the Pikachu clones that succeed at being worse than Raichu in every regard? I wonder when game freak is going to learn that rodents need more than fairy or flying typing to save them from being complete wastes of space.
At least Unown has the lore going for it and had its own movie. Dedenne, emolga, and pachirisu are just ass with no justification. It's not even like they're the generation's com mons.
I'll make the case for Kricketot.
The only damaging move it learned before its evolution level is Bide (in the generation it was released). It is the weakest Bug-type Pokemon, which is quite a feat to achieve. It manages to be rarer than its evolution Kricketune in the game it was released in, due to not being able to be found during the day. It's so pointlessly weak that from Generation V onward, you have to breed Kricketune in order to get Kricketot. Basically, that's Game Freak recognising that Kricketot might as well just not exist. Kricketune is useless anyway. Kricketot's design is basically just a smaller, browner version of Volbeat/Illumise.
It is fucking usless and pointless. It's only purpose of existence is fan service. Should've given out porn dvd's if they really gonna go down on their knees for the fans.
It has a niche.
It's the only pokemon with both storm drain and water absorb ROFL.
Another thing, it has 106 base SpA. Coverage? Grass+Hidden Power+Hyper Voice
Question for July 27th, 2016: If you could add one Pokeball to Pokemon GO (rn there's just Poke, Great, and Ultra), what Pokeball would you choose? And let's be creative, I don't wanna see all "omfl MASTER BALL" posts lol
Perhaps an entirely new ball. Perhaps one that stays more stable while curving at the cost of half your cp bonus. Idk what to call it. Curve ball? :p
Dusk Ball. Incentive to go outside and get murdered / robbed by people using lures at midnight.
Quick ball so when I spam flick balls because the bonuses make no fucking sense, I'm at least rewarded for being fast
Evo ball that gives me more exp and candy for catching an evolved pokemon. Because as it stands it's way better to just catch a 10cp pidgey than a 800cp pidgeotto.
Git gud mang.
A ball that increases the amount of candy you get from catching pokemon would be nice. One that could set pidgey and rattatta to give you 1 of any candy you need would be even better.
Repeat Ball. Purely because in order to grind, you basically need to mass catch commons like Pidgey and the Repeat Ball would be invaluable. Probably wouldn't be super spammable unless it was more readily available but alas.
Might as well do the rest of the Poke Balls and their (possible) uses in Go:
Safari Ball / Fast Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon that have a higher fleeing rate. Based off the regular games where the Safari mons have a chance of running away from you.
Master Ball: Catches the Pokemon without fail, and skips the manual throwing animation so you don't miss a throw.
Level Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon with high CP.
Nest Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon with low CP.
Lure Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon that can be fished (Magikarp, Goldeen, Staryu, Slowpoke, Shellder, etc.). That or implement a fishing mechanic where this is the only ball that can catch the Pokemon.
Moon Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon who evolve with a Moon Stone in the regular games.
Friend Ball / Luxury Ball: Pokemon caught with this ball will yield more candy than those caught without, so either 6 (double) or 9 (triple) candies per capture.
Love Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon that have had a berry used on them (like Razz Berry). Based off the animation after you throw a berry at the Pokemon.
Heavy Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon that have more weight. It would take into consideration the weight the game assigns each individual Pokemon (not species), so it could be hit or miss. Maybe include the weight of Pokemon when throwing the ball?
Sport Ball / Park Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon found from Lures placed in Poke Stops.
Premier Ball: Higher catch multiplier on evolved Pokemon who are an "uncommon" spawn in the area. Make use of the "Premier" in the name!
Timer Ball: Higher catch multiplier as the amount of Poke Balls thrown increases. Does not count missed throws. Maxes at 10 / 15.
Net Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Water-type or Bug-type Pokemon.
Dive Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon that are strictly found in the sea (Dewgong, Lapras, Tentacruel, etc.)
Heal Ball: No multiplier. After facing or training at a Gym, the Heal Ball heals the Pokemon back to full at no charge / cost of Potions. Does not work with Pokemon who faint.
Quick Ball: Higher catch multiplier on the first Poke Ball thrown in battle. Counts missed throws.
Dusk Ball: Higher catch multiplier at night.
Cherish Ball: No multiplier. The Pokemon caught will have a special move it doesn't normally have upon viewing its summary.
Dream Ball: Higher catch multiplier on Pokemon with favorable / max IVs. The higher the IVs of the Pokemon, the bigger the multiplier; the lower the IVs of the Pokemon, the lower the multiplier.
Was fun theorymonning that with the current barebones of the game so yeah !_!
It's spy ball from Safari. Cuz fu all.
Question for July 28th, 2016: Let's try fixing another Pokemon. How would you go about improving Girafarig?
Girafarig's strongest stats are Special Attack and Speed, and it also has access to some pretty darn good special moves, such as Nasty Plot, Hyper Voice, and Psychic.
If Girafarig's ability was changed to something more suitable, or stats were improved, Girafarig could end up as a strong NU pokemon.
Girafarig's biggest problem is the combination of low BST and the terrible typing and ability. I'd say, drop the 80 Atk to like 50 Atk, add 20 to the Speed and 10 to the Special attack. Give it Magic Guard instead of Inner Focus.
It's now a slightly faster, slightly weaker, Sigilyph.
Obviously boosting the BST to 500 would help a ton, but the same can be said for like any mon.
We have to consider Meloetta in this discussion, as it shares the same typing as Girafarig (before using Relic Song) and is a Legendary Pokémon. Noting this, we should not be making Girafarig better than Meloetta unless we give it a Mega Evolution.
It has exactly 1 Base Stat that is better than Meloetta, and that is its Attack (by 3 BST). Meloetta outclasses it in every other way, being far superior in Special Attack and Special Defense. However, Girafarig has a few moves which give it a minor advantage over Meloetta: Baton Pass, Wish, Agility, and Nasty Plot, the last of those being the most important. It could be argued that Sap Sipper is better than Serene Grace situationally also.
I think this could be done in 2 ways:
1. Increase all of Girafarig's stats by a small amount (ignoring Attack). This could allow Girafarig to function better as a utility mon, providing Baton Pass and Wish support, or being a decent Nasty Plot attacker with its moves in the lower tiers. This would give Meloetta a bit of competition, but Meloetta would still be able to be a bulkier and more powerful Pokémon (before Girafarig uses Nasty Plot). as well as keeping Meloetta's Relic Song fun around. I think Meloetta would still be the better Choice Scarf user even if it is slower due to its higher power.
2. Make Girafarig Physical, to fully distinguish it as a different Pokémon to Meloetta. Give it a boost to its Attack and Speed, and let Zen Headbutt / Crunch / Return / Earthquake tear things a new hole.
EDIT: I made an Oak-length response to this in the end. It's in the spoiler if you want to see it.
Spoiler: I'm going to go an entirely different route, however.
First thing I'd do is change Girafarig's typing. I think they really dropped the ball by not making Girafarig Normal / Dark. Its tail has a mind of its own, the tail's half of the body is dark-coloured, and its tail's brain is "too small for thinking", so how on earth does it allow Girafarig to perform Psychic moves? Crunch is also Girafarig's final level-up move in all games up to and including XY.
Obviously, this change in typing provides a massive 4x weakness to Fighting-type moves, keeps the Bug-type weakness and adds a new weakness to Fairy-type moves, which is not a desireable result. Its moves will help to combat this, as will its abilities. It does have a nice immunity to Psychic-type moves now, as well as a resistance to Dark-type moves, so it technically is a better defensive typing!!!!!!!!
Its abilities are going to have a slight change.
First off, I'm keeping Sap Sipper. Immunity to Grass-type moves, including Sleep Powder and others, and providing a +1 Attack boost if hit by one? Good ability, let's move on.
Secondly, I'm going to give it Simple. It has amazing boosting moves in Nasty Plot, Agility and Calm Mind, which gives it lots of use with Baton Pass, if Baton Pass is usable, or boosting a relatively poor Special Attack to +4 and working from that, or just giving it +4 Speed to work with (at Base 85 Speed, +4 Girafarig reaches 885 max Speed - more than a +2 Mega Aero). Due to it having Simple, it won't be getting an Attack-boosting move. Fun fact: Only Pokémon in the Field egg group get Simple. Girafarig is in the Field egg group.
Finally, I'm giving it Strong Jaw. Crunch will be its main move, and this is a +50% boost to it, on top of it already getting STAB on it. I will be giving it all the other moves that Strong Jaw boosts, providing decent coverage options with a decent boost.
With these 3 abilities, it should be able to do multiple things and each ability can have some utility.
Time to change its Base Stats:
By default, its BST is 455, and its Base Stats are 70/80/65/90/65/85.
I'm changing this to 500, and 85/110/80/60/80/85.
This gives it a slight boost of +15 Base in HP, Defense and Special Defense. This leaves Girafarig with a notable weakness to overly strong hits, as well as allowing Mach Punch users to utterly destroy Girafarig, but still allows Girafarig a bit of room to come in and take a resisted hit or two. This is to help balance the setup potential that Girafarig has with Agility/Nasty Plot and Simple, and to give people the ability to still use its other options if they don't want to risk the setup.
I've boosted its Attack to 110 Base, greatly increasing its physical damage output, but also leaving it wanting a Choice Band or other boosting item if it wants to be as strong as some of the other Pokémon it may be contending with. This again is to help balance out any setup options, but also allows its other non-Simple abilities to be used. Sap Sipper's +1 boost makes the Base 110 Attack fearsome, and Strong Jaw's power can help to keep its power up despite the not-overly-impressive Base Stat. As mentioned before, Girafarig doesn't get any Attack-boosting options outside of items and its abilities, to prevent Simple from being too powerful.
As a result of the base Attack boost, its Special Attack had to go down. After doing a bit of calculations, I settled on just base 60 Special Attack. This might seem fairly low, but considering Simple and Nasty Plot allow Girafarig to reach +4 Special Attackin 1 turn, there was a lot of reasoning behind it. It maxes out at 720 Special Attack after 1 Nasty Plot (+3), which is still enough to do some decent damage, but forces the setup for its to do the damage needed. This combined with its Base Speed leaves are enough Pokémon that can come in and stop it before it gets out of control. Its moveset will be the final way I balance this out, so I will expand further there.
One of the most important things I've done is to leave its Speed at base 85. This allows it to still be workable with a Choice Scarf and its other abilities, as well as forcing Girafarig to boost its Speed or be outsped by a large amount of Pokémon that exist in the metagame. Its 110 Base Attack is high enough to work with the other abilities, but arguably just low enough to make an Agility-boosted Simple Girafarig powerful, but not game-breaking. At +4, Girafaring simply outspeeds the entire metagame thanks to Simple. If you have a negative nature in Speed, you still reach 740 at +4, and nothing unboosted will outspeed that other than Choice Scarf Deoxys-Speed. This is the reason for all the other abilities, moves and stats being balanced in the way they are being. You get to run max Attack EVs and a positive nature, but you can also boost your other stats, because your Speed doesn't *need* it, but you might want Speed EVs to get the early jump on slower Pokemon. It gives you interesting options, and that is why I've thought this up.
Finally, I'm going to tackle its moveset, and I'm going to ruin everyone's fun by removing every single Psychic-type attacking move it gets: Confusion, Psybeam, Psyshock, Future Sight, Zen Headbutt and Psychic are all being removed, and I'm also removing Dazzling Gleam. This keeps the Nasty Plot set balanced by removing any Fighting-type coverage it could get, worsening the Special set's ability to deal with Fighting-types, and keeping Fighting-types as a decent check to all sets to prevent Girafarig from being declared broken under the "it has too many things to check" rule. It still gets Hidden Power, but outside of 4x weaknesses, Hyper Voice and Dark Pulse become the only useful options on any Special set. It still has Grass Knot, Energy Ball, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball and Signal Beam, but these moves only provide one bit of notable coverage between them: Tyranitar. By limiting the Special set to Dark Pulse / Hyper Voice / Nasty Plot / Agility or crap coverage, it keeps the amount of checks to both sets open, as well as allowing people to be generally prepared for what could be thrown at them, making it a powerful option, but not game-breaking.
As mentioned before, Girafarig is getting access to all the Strong Jaw moves: Bite (because it should have had this since the start), Poison Fang, Ice Fang, Fire Fang and Thunder Fang. This gives Girafarig some decent type-coverage outside of its STAB moves, though Poison Fang is mostly useless as neutral Return outdamages 2x effective Poison Fang. Other than that, I'm not changing its Physical moves, as it already gets 2 notable moves otherwise: Iron Tail, and Earthquake. The former move gives the Physical set a stronger move against Fairies, though Return is favourable in almost every non-Carbink, Klefki or Diancie situation. Earthquake, however, is probably the best choice of third move on any Physical set, as it flat-out beats Klefki, who would be one of Girafarig's strongest checks regardless of its set, and is Girafarig's strongest move against any Rock- or Steel-type that isn't weak to Dark, though with Strong Jaw, Crunch comes close in power to Earthquake there too.
I've made both its Special and Physical sets powerful, but forced limits onto each set to prevent it from getting overly powerful. Klefki is a solid check to all sets, with priority Thunder Wave to stop its Agility antics and it fears only Earthquake from a Physical set. Any Mach Punch user can come in and force Girafarig out, else it is flat out OHKOd by any and all Mach Punch. Cobalion outspeeds Girafarig without a boost, and has Thunder Wave to cripple any Agility Girafarig, as well as being able to survive even a Choice Banded Earthquake from Girafarig. Chesnaught stops any Physical set, and a 252+ Specially Defensive Chesnaught can also take a +4 Hyper Voice and OHKO back with Drain Punch. Any faster Pokémon can come in as the Special set sets up Nasty Plot and KO or force Girafarig out. If the Special set sets up Agility first, it lacks the power to do any real damage, giving away a free turn for even slower Pokemon to take Girafarig down.
EDIT: xdevo pointed out that Work Up exists, and that it gets that from a Gen 5 TM. WE ARE PRETENDING THAT IT DOES NOT GET WORK UP IN GEN 5, K? K.
Regardless, I just made Girafarig really fucking strong.
Mega girafarig confirmed?
Yeah pretty much the way Devo went about it is p much the only feasible way Girafarig will get buffed. Going down the "best it can be without being too broken" route, something like:
Typing: Normal / Psychic
Abilities: Sap Sipper / Synchronize / Sheer Force (HA)
HP: 70 -> 85 (+15)
Attack: 80 -> 50 (-30)
Defense: 65 -> 75 (+10)
Special Attack: 95 -> 120 (+25)
Special Defense: 65 -> 75 (+10)
Speed: 85 -> 115 (+30)
BST: 455 -> 515 (+60)
Moves: +Tri Attack, +Moonblast, +Earth Power
Early Bird makes no sense on it and I replaced Inner Focus with Synchronize to give more allusion to its Psychic-typing and its tail. Sap Sipper is a regular ability and Sheer Force turns into the HA (based off Tauros). Went with Aerodactyl BST as a baseline for it being a standalone mon, and it's behind most powerful FEs. For moves, just went with what makes sense flavor-wise + already has a basis. Tri Attack is STAB boosted by Sheer Force (and it has 2 heads already so it kinda works), Moonblast is an upgrade over its current move Dazzling Gleam and Earth Power bc it learns Earthquake and Bulldoze already. Thought about giving it Tail Glow but that's probably too much and it already gets Nasty Plot.
Girafarig @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Nasty Plot
- Tri Attack
- Psychic / Moonblast
- Psychic / Earth Power
Other options would include NP + BP, AoA (All Out Attacker) sets, and coverage like Thunderbolt or Energy Ball (which it already gets).
Oak has never been more enthusiastic about anything on PO than with that Girafarig post.
You should show them what a real tl;dr post is, pedro. Haven't personally seen one that quite matches medichamite suspect caliber yet I've only seen one that matches medichamite's caliber.
Yeah time to answer a lotta questions at once cause postwhoring is a sin!
I hope it goes all good, there were some photos on the newspaper that were showing Brazilian police dudes holding placards that went, "Come to Rio at your own risk, we can't protect you!" Creepy..
Actually I did have a plan for a RPG style game. @Sam Holmes and I decided to make a hack of FFVI.
Spoiler: THE G-G-GAME
I wanted to share this idea a while ago, but I didn't wish to cause secret, also to the fact that I have my A levels coming soon, I can't be really arsed to go ahead and continue on the story. So for now, it's on hiatus.
The Story.... to an extent
Yeah so, the game's characters are all assigned two elements: One is assigned as their clan or family (This is the primary element, example names include Dragon Clan, Storm Clan etc..) and the second element is their elemental lineage (Fire, Water, Earth.. you get the drill).
The story starts when the protagonist's (who happens to be from the Dragon Clan) village is totally wrecked by their village deity (Bad deity is bad). And his/her father sacrifice's a part of his soul to seal the unsealed deity and ends up missing.. From their, we fast forward 5 years as the turmoil is recreated and this time the protagonist takes a different approach.
Katy Perry:She has nice boobs, I'd like to here her roar! :3
OK singer otherwise..
Pokemango: I haven't even played Pokemon Go (fail) but I don't happen to have a smartphone with me rn anyway. I would have joined Team Instinct if I had Pokemon Go tho.. On the leaders, Candela looks nice, Spark looks cool but his design kinda wanes in comparision against the other two, nice smile tho. Blanche seems to based off the general water type/water elemental people found in most anime imo so well uh, still cool.
Girafarig is very pointless guys.. So pointless that Oak made a long ass post and Joey happened make a pointless question over a mon that deserves to die.... -_-
Giraf needs too much overhaul. Sure, go ahead and give it an evo(mega), buff its stats by a large amount. What an unimaginative way to buff a mon. And yet that's a change it can't do without.
Oak's suggestions aren't bad. I'd however make it Dark/Psychic as a theme. Giving it simple is the best possible way to buff up it's viablity in one stroke that is not downright blunt. That'd make it viable in what, NU I guess?
It's primary job should be BP passer, so it will need bulk and speed.. For that it needs stats and at this point we are better off
making a whole new pokemon.
So, like legit, I woke up this morning and did not have access to my internet at all, and my phone's copy/paste buttons aren't working. I'll put up two tomorrow. No I'm not dying, everything's just getting fucked over.
joey's net pls, i am not made of bad questions
questin 4 29th july 2016: how bad is every isp ever?
BT Fibre here, it's fine for the most part. Wifi signal is god awful, but ethernet connection is solid
Fuck RCN. It's absolute shit. The net will randomly lag and even go down for indefinite amounts of time for unknown reasons.
Say hey to BSNL India, gives you a solid 256kbps while you pay for 10+ Mbps... ;-;
Connections randomly die due to rain in my hometown, and you gotta wait for like 15 minutes for the techs to even start fixing stuff.
13-15 mbps download speed/ 10-12 mbps upload speed, quite satisfactory considering I live in India; however what annoys me is that I get randomly dc'd from PO and PS servers while everything else works fine. It's like life doesn't want me to play mons in peace. Connection gets worse during rainy season though.
