Discuss the possibility of Fletchinder being banned from the ORAS NU tier.

Use this thread to discuss Fletchinder's effect on the metagame; talk about the different sets it can use, good partners and potential checks/counters. State your opinion on whether you think it should be banned, but make sure your posts are backed up by experience and knowledge. Anyone who makes post based on theorymon risks being infracted.

If you're unsure about posting check out this guide and post anyway.

What makes Fletchinder very good is its capacity to deal with Offense very easily due to priority Acrobatics and Swords Dance. It sure is a win condition most of the time however against some balanced teams it's less good and pack good counters such as Regirock, Curse Rest Registeel, Barbaracle, Omastar and a lot of rock types in general, even Lum berry Kabutops.

It is very threatening but I don't know if it deserves the ban, pretty similar to Talonflame in OU, you have to prepare your team for it if you don't want to get swept, I'm kinda mixed up to if I want it banned, but I guess it should be banned as it negates offense totally

Fletchinder is a powerhouse of a set-up sweeper with access to SD and priority STAB Acrobatics which allows it to easily sweep offensive/balanced at +2. Even defensive teams with their bulky rock/steel worn down have trouble dealing with fletch late-game. What really pushes Fletch over the edge is W-o-W, as it cripples it's would-be switchins immensely. Sure, bulky Rock/Steel types like Rhydon/Registeel/Regirock can take on even +6 Acro and kill/wear it down, but none of those like getting burnt on the switch (unless it's resttalk set which is kinda rare). Offensive checks like Jolteon/Electivire take massive damage from a boosted Acrobatics; magneton is overall a solid counter but that's where Fletch's teammates come on, as Fletch+Lanturn form a solid core.

The biggest problem Fletch has to face is taking a massive 50% damage from Stealth Rock, but that problem is alleviated a lot by the presence of decent hazard removal in NU. Powerful defoggers like Mandibuzz/Golbat/Togetic/Shiftry/Skuntank and offensive spinners like Kabutops/Hitmonchan are very common in NU and makes SR less of a problem for Fletch.

Overall Fletch is too much of an offensive threat for NU to manage, so I'm definitely leaning ban.

My problem with Fletch isn't /just/ that it hits really hard. Fletch essentially invalidates a shitton of mons in NU. Fletch is obviously "countered" by most of the bulk Rocks / Steels in NU, though most of them are super hard crippled by WoW. But that's almost irrelevant compared to the huge impact Fletch has on tier. Fletch makes running things like Lilligant, Scrafty, Accelgor, Scyther, Vivillon et al at best a liability. Fletch's absurdly powerful Flying Priority essentially invalidates a huge list of NU pokemon as being remotely viable. The worst part is that it's not even in a "Fletch just outclasses these mons" way of invalidating pokemon, but literally "you will never ever sweep with this list of sweepers or be able to use most of these supporting mons" kind of invalidating a pokemon.

Fletch does have probably 4-6 checks and counters in random shit like RestTalk Rhydon or Registeel and their kin. Though very few of them would actually fit in an offensive team (or even a balanced team that doesn't like destroying its own momentum for 3 turns). The ease by which Fletch can simply sweep a team that has lost its counter (since all of Fletch's counters bar maybe 1 have terrible synergy with each other) for whatever reason, the lack of counter-play options one actually has against well played Fletch (bring counters or lose), and the ability Fletch has to make huge portions of NU nearly unviable to run is why Fletch is now banned in NU.
