Introduction Team building, especially in a new meta, is a cumbersome task that requires a lot of energy, thinking and time. Since we all like to be lazy every now and then, I will take this off your hands, but since I only recently came back I'm not very good at it. Therefore I'll council our Lord and Saviour RNGesus to make the teams for you! Setup The tournament is very similar to the ladder challenge by @Hannah quite some time ago. At the start of every round, you'll be given a team by me. The teams are determined by a random number generator, which will generate 6 numbers between 1-75 (can be increased if preferred by enough players). These numbers will correspond in the SM OU usage statistics (found here: http://stats.pokemon-online.eu/SM OU/index.html) at the moment of the start of the round. To avoid any confusion, you'll be given your team both in numbers and in Pokemon, so that there can be no errors in that. Teams will be sent by PM, so that they remain unknown to the other players. I'll make sure the teams are somewhat viable with respect to Mega Evolutions, so that you don't have to deal with OU unviable non-megas in the event you get multiple possibly Megas. Organization Initially there will be 16 spots for signups, but this can be changed if there is sufficient interest. All rounds will be BO1, as a BO3 finals will take too much time with sending new teams every time. Round will take 1 week each starting on every Monday. All battles will be played in SM OU with the standard clauses, with Freeze Clause and Disallow Specators being optional. Sign-ups close on Sunday 5 March at 23:59 GMT. You will receive your teams on Monday. You are advised to save logs so I can check whether the correct Pokemon are used. Replays are even better and since you'll get a new team every round, there isn't much to scout. in e: cant we increase the amount of possible generated pokemon? 50 sounds a little bit boring and its not really fun if theres only viable stuff to get
Only the Mons are fixed, you can EV/move/Mega them as you like. Yes this number can be increased if more people want this.
moar. i was thinking like 200 or so (the more the better imo), whats the point of an rng team tour if you have the chance to get the same 2 mons every round also, its not actually fun if 50% of the generated teams consist of mons like megagross mosa lele and ashninja if i understood correctly, each player gets his individually generated team?
Yes that is correct. Keep in mind that even with only 50 possible mons to generate from, there are 50 over 6 = 15890700 (16m) possible combinations, so there will be plenty of variety. Also landing the same mon twice is approximately (6/50)^2 = 1.44%, which is about the same accuracy as Focus Blast when you really want it to hit.
nah that would be the case if you can run the same mon 6 times anyway, it still doesnt change the fact that theres still a high chance that players get pokemon from the previous rounds, which would (imo) dampen the fun, even if its only a little bit; if im joining an rng team tour i expect absolutely different teams each round, yknow :v
