Welcome to SM Balanced Hackmons Experience Building Tournament! Dank Banner @Annoying Orange This tournament has the purpose of helping the participants build their experience on certain controversial elements in the current SM Balanced Hackmons of Pokemon Online, preparing you with valid arguments in upcoming suspects and bans based on real experience of the meta. In each round, there will be a special clause pertaining to the specific controversial element that we are testing. For this round, we are looking at the impact of some special new toys of gen 7: Dazzling, Queenly Majesty and Psychic Surge. All these three abilities share one trait: they somewhat stop Priority attacks and could be effective on setup sweepers to prevent revenge killing from Priorities. Usually packed with Shell smash and Focus Sash, some of these set up sweepers can win Imposter Chansey 1 on 1 due to the defensive stats drop and focus sash, esp. when being lucky and winning speed ties. Some also argue that, Dazzling and Queenly Majesty does not announce itself in battle and could pressure people to click Priority to revenge any sort of Set up sweepers before their abilities revealed; Psychic Surge, on the other hand, announces itself but can support teammates setup sweepers as well as boost Psychic Type attacks like Psystrike and Store Power. In order to test how much impact these elements would have on our metagame, I will encourage you to test some of them on the ladder and in this tour. In addition, Fake out + Extreme Speed are banned on Pokemon with Mold breaker/Turboblaze/Terravolt this round. While Mold breaker and its duplicates do ignore Dazzling, Queenly Majesty and can possibly revenge kill, they actually have so little use in our bulky offense metagame. With them banned, we can see whether these priority blocking abilities can cause trouble in walling them with generic checks. Let me give you some examples of Dazzling/Queenly Majesty set-up attackers, together with some of the Psychic Surge Attackers. Spoiler Mega Rayquaza @ Focus Sash Ability: Dazzling EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef) - Shell Smash - Ice Beam - Dragon Ascent - Thousand Arrows Choose a nature and an ice coverage for Zygarde and Imposter, recommended to tweak the EVs to let ice coverage OHKO -1 Eviolite Chansey Impostered Ray. Mega Gengar (M) @ Focus Sash Ability: Queenly Majesty EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 172 SDef / 252 Spd IVs: 0 Atk Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Shell Smash - Moongeist Beam - Sludge Wave - Secret Sword 172 SDef to let you OHKO Eviolite Chansey that impostered you after the shell smash. Deoxys-Attack @ Focus Sash Ability: Psychic Surge EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Shell Smash - Stored Power - Precipice Blades - Ice Beam Similar Movesets and different coverage options could function similarly on MMY. Marshadow @ Focus Sash Ability: Dazzling EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Spectral Thief - Shell Smash - Close Combat - Ice Hammer Spectral Thief gets you +4 when Chansey impostered u after shell smash, resulting a OHKO. Regigigas @ Life Orb/Ghost Memory Ability: Queenly Majesty EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Shell Smash - Extreme Speed - Return/Frustration - Spectral Thief/Multi Attack/Ice Hammer Somewhat Imposter Proof due to Return/Frustration. could choose other options. Utilizing normal type to get immune to spectral thief. Mega Tyranitar (F) @ Focus Sash Ability: Dazzling EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Shell Smash - Low Kick/Diamond Storm - Power Trip/Beat Up - Sunsteel Strike If you are using a non-self-imposter-proof set from above, please make sure you have a teammate in your team that can check the set you are using when opposing chansey imposters them. You should also note that how effective these sets would be is something you should weight and scale before you put them on your team. Also notice that shell smash can also be viable with Magic Guard Sash sweepers since they get immune to Innards Out, in addition to mold breaker/Simple while the former ignores unaware and the latter relying on even more powerful Power Trip/Stored Power to break the walls. And some examples of generic checks/counters to some of the attackers. (They mostly likely check many of the threats but fails to do so when certain coverage are brought.) Spoiler Chansey (F) @ Eviolite Ability: Imposter EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef IVs: 0 Atk Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Fake Out - Skill Swap - Spiky Shield - Shore Up Would appear shaky if opponent diminish the defensive EV spread on purpose Arceus-Dark @ Safety Goggles Ability: Unaware EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Spectral Thief - Shore Up - U-turn/Others - Knock Off/Beat up Arceus-Water @ Safety Goggles Ability: Unaware EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Spectral Thief - Shore Up - U-turn - Scald/Will-o-wisp/Others Similar Unaware settings on Arceus-Fairy, Arceus-Steel, Mega Audino, Yvelta, Gyarados-Mega, and Zygarde-complete all checks a bunch of them depending on the coverage typing. Arceus-Ghost @ Choice Scarf Ability: Prankster EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd IVs: 0 Atk Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Destiny Bond - Shore Up - Haze - Trick Similar Prankster Destiny Bond/Haze set on Giratina, Arceus-Steel, Aegislash, Zygarde-Complete etc. functions similarly. Could use other items while changing Trick to U-turn. Chansey (F) @ Wiki Berry Level: 97 Ability: Innards Out EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Def / 0 Spd Gentle Nature (+SDef, -Def) - Final Gambit/Metal Burst - Slack Off - Defog/Rapid Spin - Parting Shot/U-turn Many High HP mons can tweak the EVs and Nature to ensure to get OHKOed by certain targets and blows up in their way. This Chansey level aims to be taken out even by certain multi-attack moves, while always leave the battle field the last. Feel free to further tweek it. Mega Gyarados (M) @ Assault Vest Ability: Regenerator EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Knock Off - U-turn - Spectral Thief - Sunsteel Strike Could still check certain Special attackers. Giratina @ Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Spectral Thief - Wish/Shore up - King's Shield - Whirwind. Arceus-Water @ Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Gastro Acid - Wish/Shore up - King's Shield - Spectral Thief Other than the special Clause, everything is the same as a ladder match. You should check the following clauses when challenging, and no more: Disallow Spects (to prevent scouting; if you need someone to save logs for you, server mod can still do so since they bypass it.) Team Preview Self-KO In this round, everyone has to battle everyone else once under the specific rule, and every win earns you a point of 2, and a lose earns you 0. Consistent johning will potentially lead to a loss of points. Players who played with a team conflicting the specific clause will automatically lose that game so please make sure you bring the correct team. You are encouraged to ask me or other auth on the server to check your team before you start the battle. Please also check if your team loaded properly on windows, since bugs happened (see http://pokemon-online.eu/threads/35553/ ) The best way to double check it is open two tabs to challenge yourself. You need to save the Battle Logs and send to me through forum PM or server PM in the form of pastebin etc (privately if this round is not over yet) or post in the Tour thread (only after this round ends) to validate the result. If both of you are having trouble saving logs, contact any server auth that is not participating in this tour to save the logs for you. Major Forum Tournament rule applies, including activity calls. Here is a list of availability on weekdays in terms of GMT from Round 1, and you can still follow this information to battle each other in Round 2.
