Welcome to the Pokémon Online Viability Tournament!
    Hosted by: TraceofLife
This is a tournament with a very fun concept. You will be given 10 points to start off, and with those 10 points you must create a team of 6 Pokémon where the sum of all their values add up to 10. Each usable Pokémon is placed in a certain tier from 0-11 (best to worst) and given a value depending on how popular and powerful it is. For example, since Landorus-T is a viable pokémon in SM, it is worth 75 points. On the contrary, Pokémon like Whiscash or Hypno are not as viable in competitive play, so they're worth only 1 point. For the first round, only tiers 9 through 11 will be usable, and as we progress further into the tournament, more tiers will be available to you to make your team with the amount of points you have.

    Tournament in a Nutshell:

    Signing up:
    1. Post in this thread with 'in' or something similar to join. Please do not double post or post for the sake of boosting your post count.
    2. You start off with 10 points.
    3. All battles must follow standard rules (i.e. Sleep Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, etc.)

    And when Round 1 starts:
    4. Build your team with the amount of points you have.
    5. You can only make a team using Pokémon listed in tiers 9,10, and 11. Your six Pokémon must add up to your total points.
    6. (Optional) Practice battling and chat about strategies with other players on the #POYT channel on the Pokémon-Online server.
    7. When you're ready, message your opponent on the forums/server and schedule a time to battle on the Pokémon Online simulator. Battles should take place on the official Pokémon Online server. Only if both players agree may the match take place on any other simulator.
    8. Battles are best of 3
    9. One player in the match up must then post the results of the battle in the round’s thread.
    10. You get half your opponent's points for winning, so you have more points to make a new (better) team for the next round.
    11. Carry on making your way through the rounds, where you will gain more points and new point tiers will become available for you to enhance your team.
    12. Extension might be given depending on the circumstances
It is recommended that you read the full details in this thread if you're confused with something. If you're still confused, contact me via forum PM/conversation.

    The Point System
    - You will be given 10 points to start off with when you have signed up.
    - The number of points you have indicates the amount you can spend on making a good team. You can never lose points per round, only gain them if you win or earn them from "extra credit." Meaning, if I have 10 points to use for Round 1, then I can build a team of 6 Pokémon will all 10 of my points and if I win my battle, I get my 10 points back.
    - Not only that, for beating your opponent, you obtain half their points. So if my opponent had 10 points in Round 1, and I win, then in addition to my 10 points, I get an extra 5 points (half of 10). So my total points for Round 2 will be 15 points. If you beat an opponent with an odd number of points, the points you get will be rounded down. For example, if I beat someone with 11 points, I will only get 5 points from them.
    - Every Pokémon that is usable in tournament is given a certain value that depends how popular and viable it is considered to be in competitive play. The least popular Pokémon will be worth the least and the most popular Pokémon will be worth the most. They will be ordered in tiers numbered from 0 to 11 (from most viable to least viable).
    - In Round 1, you will ONLY be able to make your team from tiers 9 to 11. Your 6 Pokémon’s point total must add up to or be less than the amount of points you have in order for your team to be eligible.
    - You must use a full team of 6 Pokémon each round.
    - Some Pokémon in SM Ubers and some mega stones are banned from the tournament.
    - Pokémon whose mega stones are banned are tiered according to the Pokémon itself rather than its mega evolution. Pokémon whose mega stones are usable in the tournament are tiered taking their mega evolution into account.
    - As we progress throughout the tournament, more tiers will be unlocked and you will be able to improve your team. For example, in Round 2, Tier 8 (Pokémon that are worth 5 points) will be unlocked.

    Battle Rules
    - NO unreleased items or abilities are allowed.
    - All rounds are best 2 out of 3.
    - You are able to use different teams each round and different teams in your best of 3 for that round as long as they meet the requirements.
    - Players are advised to PM imports their teams to me, failure to do so will result in unconditional loss should you disconnect during your match. If both teams were sent in, disconnects will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
    - The tournament is Single Elimination with standard rules:

    • Timer must be on!
    • Wifi Battle (Team Preview) must be on!
    • Species Clause - You can not have more than one of the same Pokémon on your team.
    • Sleep Clause - You can not induce sleep to more than one of your opponent's Pokémon at the same time.
    • Evasion Clause - You can not use moves that boost your evasion (Double Team, Minimize, etc.)
    • OHKO Clause - OHKO moves such as Fissure, Sheer Cold, and Guillotine are not allowed.
    • Self KO Clause - You can not use the move Explosion or Selfdestruct if it is your last remaining Pokémon.
    • Confusion Clause - All moves whose sole effect is confusion or infatuation are banned (including Swagger and Flatter).
How do I contact my opponent?
    - Once Round 1 begins, you will see the list of match ups in the round 1 thread. From there you will need to contact your opponent. Forum profile messages are the most advised way of contact. Contact via other medium are suspect if used for making a case in activity.

Tournament Chat: Chatting with competitors and finding practice battles
    - The official chat for this tournament is on the #POVT channel on the Pokemon Online server.
    - You can use this chat to talk with others that are also joining the tournament to help you build your team, discuss great strategies, find practice battles, etc. Or if you have any questions regarding the tournament, we'll also be there to help you out.

    Tier 11 - 1 point

Any pokémon not included in this list is eligible for 1 point.

    Important Tiering Information
    - If a Pokémon is not on this list, assume it is in tier 11.
    - The tournament directors and tournament hosts reserve the right to move pokémon between tiers where necessary. If this is done it will be noted in that round's first post.
    - Pokémon with mega evolutions are tiered according to the mega evolutions, and are not separate unless their mega stone has been banned. So for example Manectric is tiered taking its mega evolution into account, rather than having two separate listings for it as a normal pokémon and a mega evolution.
    - If you are unsure on whether a Pokémon or a team is allowed, please speak to me and I will happily clarify. Using a team that is not allowed will lose you that battle!
    - The tier list might have some slight changes to the upper tiers before the start of the tour (it will not change afterwards), so be sure to relook at the list before building teams.
    - If new mega stones are released, they'll definitely be moved
The winner will be awarded with this shiny badge [IMG]
