It's kind of bitter to see it slipping away from our hands after a good start, but I feel like we've got to give credit to our opposition: I played for CALLOUS in the past, and I wouldn't second guess his decisions; my worthy heir Troller is getting the recognition he deserves and he always ends up being on the right team!
We had good players and so was the managment, but you just can't overcome the #1 seed curse. Just don't ever end up with #1 seed, no matter what the game, the sport or whatever it is.
Most guys who were bought for a steal ended up with great records, the team was healthy and in particular I saw in @Marcop9923 that kind of aura I saw in players like an ABR/Honor/Captain Joe (no matter how you know him) or a Tesung: it felt good to watch you playing, keep it up. Can't ask for more and gotta live with this. Was fun.

    Congrats Wobbufets! Well deserved.

Unfortunately we didn't win which sucks. That 3th tour badge would have looked so nice.
I guess as a Dutch guy I'm used to losing finals anyway. #South-Africa2010neverforget

I'm proud of myself since beforehand I probably was considered one of the weaker players in this tour but ended up with the second best record after Troller.

Only gonna do a few shout-outs.
@La.Melle2402 thank you for buying me, spending 60 hours to prep for the auction and atleast 15 hours every week to help everyone where you could. Which led us to finals. Well done my man!

@Hassin627 thank you for spending atleast 10 seconds on this post:
@gengar17 thank you for helping me prep every week 1 hour before scheduled time and that 1 test battle we did.

@confide you where an amazing opponent and the only person who defeated me. Scheduling with you went flawless every time.

    @Draciel you suck

The rest of the team you where all amazing. I really had fun. Hope to see you all again next year in POWC and POCL since I'm probably still not well-known enough to participate in Smogons prestigious teamtours.

    Bye

This has been the tournament that I have enjoyed the most so far and I want to do some short shoutouts to my teammates:

@CALLOUS - He spent a lot of time on this and this victory is the reward he deserves. The best captain I've had so far and a great person.

@PhilosopherKing: You've spent a lot of time on this with Callous for the bid and to decide the lineup every week and I admire that. This is the result of that effort that you both put.

(Thanks to the two for getting me)

@holy break: You are a good person and you have always been active. You won in the final bringing us an important win. Great teammate

@Lcans + @Eternal Spirit: I put you together as Delusk has done. You played very well, contributed with teams and advices (especially Lcans). You both are two great players and I am happy to have interacted with you.

@confide: You gave us some wins but it wasnt your best tournament. I've seen you play more times and I know you can do better.

@Starmaster - You have played incredibly well especially in the final. You are a very good player and have given many tips for our LCer.

@Bluri - You played very well, but with the passage of time you were leaving it a bit, luckily you did not leave anything aside and contributed important wins.

@BingBongBaller - Luck has not been on your side. We have not talked much.

@deluks917: Always active, always ready to help and a player who can beat anyone in the tiers he plays. I didnt know anything about you when we started but I soon realized how good as player you are and how good as teammate you are.

@Sapphire Saffron - You have been active and have prepared well (at least in GSC). Always positive and in general good teammate, maybe creating your own team is not your strong, Synthesis + Defog Kartana lol.

@Troller - The god of RBY with a spectacular record. The best I've seen in RBY so far and always willing to help. MVP of the tournament.

    The Midseason Picks:
@champagne papi (Jirachee) - I remember when I kept saying that MDragon + Jirachee was the best combination of purchases for our midseason, I knew we had to do it (we gained versatility, experience and two high level players). Your BW battle was spectacular and you won when we needed it the most.

@M Dragon - Not much to say, you are one of the best players of all times and you have contributed in different tiers. Undeserved record, you were not lucky. Your teams and your advices were very useful.

Shoutouts also to @SpectearEsLove and @Luispako for the support, sois los dos increibles jaja

And for @Not Leiteng por todo el apoyo bro

See u all next year boys (and SS lol)

    Bad English etc

Ooh, this looks fun! Me too! I love long, rambling, heartwarming speeches <3

Overall I had a blast, so hugs to everyone here for making my first one of these Smogon/PO tournaments so happy-face. The Wobbuffets were a great first team to play for, so thanks to auction peeps for giving me a shot. I'm pretty happy at 5-1, especially since I caught a window to show off I really can fill in more than just GSC. 'Cause Snorlax is cuddly and all, but I'm a gal who likes to strut her stuff!

    The Teamies:

@CALLOUS - What a wonderful manager; despite the impression he gives off, he's so much more than a really huge dick with a comparatively-small human-shaped appendage attached. He's a really huge, thoughtful, supportive dick with a very invested, motivated, and "tryhard" human-shaped appendage ;) As someone with a deep appreciation for numerical side of things, I was so relieved to have a manager that took lineups as full-on mathematical optimization problems each and every week, analyzing the other side and figuring out how best to turn our player flexibility into probabilistic edge. And you really took the time to do it all too! Hours on the draft, hours for lineups, hours on every other managerial decision too. It really showed how much you cared, and it felt great to have someone looking out for us in all those ways so we could just focus on our games. Also... *blush* I never told you this during the tournament, but back in the beginning of our relationship deluks and I used to watch your Youtube channel for the occasional bedtime story... Maybe this is just my silly girly sensibilities, but it felt extra fulfilling to be appreciated in person by the mysterious voice that helped so much on my first forays into ADV <3 Thank you for taking a chance on the girl of little tournament resumé. I was glad to serve *curtsy*

@PhilosopherKing - Anyone who can keep up with Callous's standards for thorough managerial decision-making is a god/goddess-send. *giggle* In my head, you and him actually kind of had a good cop / bad cop thing going. He was always pushing us so hard to be our strongest and win and cracking the whip when we were n-naughty..., and you were always the one helping us to feel great about ourselves for everything we'd achieved. You were even sweet and encouraging to me as a supportive shoulder when I'd cry about personal problems <3 It was pretty obvious that you two were in league working as a cohesive unit the whole way through, but even still the individual qualities you brought to the table were so big in making this experience as great and feel-good as it was; I can't overlook them. Thank you.

@Troller - Blah blah blah something something 8-1. Nobody needs me to ramble repeat glorifications of your record; it was obvious from all angles how much of a serial ass kicker you are. But you were a lot more than that too. The part that nobody on the outside gets to see is just how much you held all our hands and gave advice through our preparation. Seriously, if you post a team or even just loosely-organized thoughts about where your prep might be headed, this guy WILL take the time to comment. I don't know if you kill 8-1-style-much at every tier, but with the insightful and prompt feedback you always have ready for all of us I wouldn't be shocked. Being so forthcoming and helpful about it all went a long way to making us feel like a real *team* and not just 15 people with the same goal. It's hard to praise this guy enough :goat:

@BingBongBaller - Maybe the only competitive player I've met with a greater penchant than me for "going deep" and designing unusual whack-a-doodle teams/sets to slot in at just the goofy combinations of role(s) you need. Sorry it didn't pan out for you in this particular event, but we all know innovation is inherently a hit-or-miss thing and I look forward to seeing your next hit. Also side note for managers drafting this guy in the future: I think he might be a witch... check this one out. Prophetic sight like that and you'd best watch yourselves :P

@Newalfonquest - It takes a lot of discipline and emotional control to stay so active in team chat despite us not finding space in the lineup for you so frequently. Really an admirable trait. I'm sorry that life got the better of you and you didn't find the time you'd need to prep and show us of what you're really capable. But once you do, now I'll know to be watching :)

@confide - I knew nothing about LC going into this tournament. But after watching and listening to you, now I feel like I understand the basics and... it's scary :'( Every turn seems to trade off way more of your team's resources than in most other tiers, and it all makes me glad someone like you has the nerves for it so I don't have to! Bonus points for in finals naming what looked to me like the hero of the team and one of the metagame's strongest Pokemon after my boyfriend... and then minus bonus points for killing him :P It's not fair to play with a girl's heart like that you silly!

@Starmaster - Thanks so much for not letting Smogon drama stand in the way of supporting us, because we really needed you. Sorry we had a rough road figuring out the right tiers in which to use your varied talents, because your LC game is something else (and pretty to watch on top of that). I still laugh thinking about the one ADV team you used where my immediate reaction was "how can this ever in a million years beat a Celebi?" .... and then looked more closely to see HP bug on your lure Curselax and I wanted to hug you. Great team!

@Lcans - Thanks for your helpful feedback in my week delving into your specialty tier on the S/M teams I prepped and tested. And super sorry that my spat with nutritional-deficiency-induced amnesia caused me to not remember any of it the next day when I actually played :( While our interaction was kind of limited, it was nothing but positive, and even in your quietness I could get a sense of the amount of thought going into making your teams sound against your opponents' expected ranges.

@Eternal Spirit - In my head you were like a real life Gildarts, or something. All quiet all the time, mostly away, and then for the brief moment you show up you pulverize on our behalf. Sorry we never chatted, but being your teammate was exciting none-the-less :)

@champagne papi - Your banded Gyarados team was agreed straight-up by almost all of us to be the best DPP team we'd seen. You finals play was immaculate. And then of course, there's my favorite match of the entire tournament, which surely belongs on Pornhub or something. *blush* There's no way I'm the only one who'd want to masturbate to it... It's a real shame that we didn't join up with you until mid season and that life caught up with you so much near the end, because I'm sure witnessing the full 9 weeks of marvels out of you would have been breathtaking.

@holy break - It's a real shame you were often so down on yourself, because you did such a wonderful job of making the rest of us feel the opposite! You were around all the time to cheer us on as we played, even despite your disparate timezone, and so often you made me smile when I pulled through. Also someone needed the job of out-trolling the guy who named himself Troller; way to take up so studiously such an altruistic cause <3 Maybe it's just because I'm such a stall junkie, but watching your ubers PP stall was the most emotionally-invested I got in a game I wasn't playing all tournament long *gleeful pirouette*

@Bluri - You're a rollercoaster to try and read, but I hope you find your answer about whether competitive Pokemon is where you belong or not and the revelation brings you much happiness. Clearly the game has a place for you, so if you have a place for the game too then I'll look forward to seeing you around. Not gonna lie... it was just a *little* ominous of you to change your Discord avatar to Anakin Skywalker at the same time you started questioning whether you belonged... but when you came back to us you didn't slay all the poor little younglings, so no harm no foul and +1 for dramatic flair :P

@deluks917 - Wow what a sexy player! Seriously, you have *no idea* how good the sex is right after he wins a match. Er, wait... maybe I got that backwards? You have no idea how good he is at winning matches right after we have sex? Oh well; I guess we'll just have to play more tournaments together so you can remind your little girl *exactly* how that works :rose:;) You put up the second best record on the team despite having a killer bracket, so now I get to watch gleeful as Callous/all the other gals fawn over my man <3 Thanks so much for nudging me into playing this with you. It was a wonderful ride <3

    The Not-So-Teamies:

@Capt.Knightwalker - My personal cheerleader <3 You believed in me before anyone else in this tournament (excluding my boyfriend and I), before I had any kind of tournament resumé to show, quite possibly even before my manager. It was really great to have someone reminding me how awesome I am even before the results showed it. Without you I'm sure my first auction-style team tournament would have been SO much more intimidating and I truly am grateful!!!

@Eden's Embrace - That friendly guy from way back who told me I ought to be getting involved in some of these tournaments. And also that friendly guy now who steals my favorite ADV stall team and gives it to his teammate to make my boyfriend lose! *pout* The least you could do is remember it right! If you'd had the Skarm, Blissey, and Flygon sets correct then it would have been a straight crush, and don't even get me started on EVs... *glare* But it's okay. I'm happy to have the vote of confidence, and honestly even more happy to know others see some of my shenanigans as worth replicating. *giggle* Thanks :)

@Mr. Perry - Thanks for being a cooperative organizer who took the time to check I was a separate person from the player who shared my IP address and then let me sign up. Prior to that it was very frustrating having my account banned and all my posts repeatedly deleted without explanation or even hearing out the attestations of others. After that hiccup and apart from the Goodra dropout debacle, the tournament was smooth sailing amidst your great organization, and I'm very grateful for all the effort that surely went into that. Also your newest Discord avatar is adorable <3

@Arifeen - We didn't talk much, but I found you to be a really mannered opponent, something that often goes overlooked in Pokemon. Especially because it's so much easier to manage when one is winning. I don't have too much to say here really, but you being gracious and communicative with me made the whole match a much more pleasant and relaxing experience; it did not go unnoticed.

@sulcata - The sole person to actually beat me! I got lucked out (because after all, none of us have ever lost to anything except being lucked out, right? :P), but as I review the match I can see a lot I might have done (but didn't) to minimize your opportunities to catch me that way. And fewer windows where I had a shot to luck you back. So in the end I'm quite content: you're a great player who played that particular game better than me. *hugs*

@Lavos Spawn - The guy so strong my manager wouldn't even let me have a go! I know we have never interacted at all before, but you seem like a very pleasant, thoughtful guy, and your replays are something else. You're the only GSC player this whole tournament (myself included) where I haven't been able to find any plays that were just straight-up objective mistakes (as in, the same or worse against all possible opponent selections than some other probability vector of your options). I wish we'd had the chance to square off, but alas: Callous is a pussy "consummate lineup utility maximizer."

Yay to Wobbuffets! Yay to everybody! I hope we can all have princess playtime together soon in tournaments 'round the corner :cherryblossom:

Beating me is a far higher benchmark than being handed a point for no achievement whatsoever that has my name attached to it as a technicality

It's a condition that wins him his point on the ledger, no more and no less. To defeat me in the contest of Pokemon, one would have to actually engage me in the contest of Pokemon. Just as by virtue of your unwillingness to undertake it I do not defeat you in the contest of logic, the same holds for Bomber and the games he does not play.

    alright

dont glare at my man sunny like that though mans got like 2TB of teams. he had some off games so he let me play instead but hes the greatest. wash ur mouth before you speak to question his EVs and builds girl. you should add to your CV that this guy thought one of your teams was worthy of his edits tbh.

cool team though for sure. looking forward to princess playtime. sounds fun

So @Sapphire Saffron you say it is your stall team but from what i see its basically a team my dear friend Astamatitos invented in early 2k16 in worse version with zapdos over suicune but the concept is basically the same and claiming it is simply disgrace for my amazing fellow greek adv player and friend asta.

Don't mean to disrespect the team or Jirachee's play, but how exactly are you going to draw conclusions as to it being the "best DPP team" you've seen when it only really won him the game vs me because he crit my Swampert and won a speed tie (afaik it wasn't used in any other game either)? Seems like a super small sample size and it didn't even really do wonders in that game either.

It was a long road but we finally made it to the top! I am proud and honored to have had the opportunity to assist in managing this team. Each of you in some way contributed to this victory, and I thank you for all the fun memories you gave me throughout the tournament. Of course, it is traditional to perform some shoutouts, so, here we go!

    The Championship Lineup

@CALLOUS - Absolute beast of a manager. There is no other manager I know in competitive Pokemon who is willing to put in as much work and hold his players to as high of a standard as you do. Between the two of us, I would say we invested at least 100+ hours of time towards drafting, lineups, player management, strategy, and drama. I was initially intimidated by the rumors of your legendary tryhardness spread by word-of-mouth from previous tournaments, but honestly, I enjoyed our time together, even when phone calls lasted 2 or more hours. This was also a tremendous learning experience that further exposed me to the competitive community, and I cannot thank you enough for inviting me to be a part of it. I hope we can do this again next year. After all, we have a title to defend!

@Troller - Everyone is calling you the GOAT of this team, and I honestly cannot deny the truth of that title given your amazing 8-1 record with such a tough playerbase. When Callous and I were surveying the RBY pool during draft season, there was no question that I wanted you on my team. You are like Liam Neeson: You just have a particular set of skills that strike fear in the hearts of other teams, whether that be your skill threshold in RBY, your knowledge of other tiers, or your dedication and ability to create a great team environment. This team would never have made it to playoffs without you, and I hope to work with you again. PPL 3 is approaching...

@Sapphire Saffron - Probably the biggest team player and cheerleader of the team. You always managed to spread enthusiasm and positivity in the chat and would always lend a helping hand whenever needed. You secured us key victories and certainly demonstrated to others why they should never underestimate you in battle. And as a reminder, there is a gen 7! ;) I enjoyed our time together, and I hope we can be on the same team in the future.

@Newalfonquest - The player with the most pep to his step. When reaching out to newer generation players during draft time, the quality that made you stand out was your enthusiasm and eagerness to prove yourself. Even when you were not selected for a lineup, you were still an active presence in the chat. Plus, I enjoyed seeing that SSJ Vegeta picture all the time. Although I wish your performance in battle was better, I definitely would consider having you on my team again. Sorry for butchering your name all the time. I just think New Found Quest is easier to say and reminds me of Skyrim.

@confide - I wish I could have gotten to know you better, but sadly, your presence in the chat diminished as the tournament progressed. You secured a key victory against Casparov in Week 1. Too bad you accidentally threw your game in finals, but I definitely see potential, so keep playing.

@Starmaster - One part of our dominating newer generation core, you were an absolute asset to this team You got the wins where they mattered and displayed an awesome amount of dedication throughout the tournament. Honestly, is there a tier you don't play well? You are just a great player, and I hope you continue to competitively play.

@Lcans - Just another solid player throughout the tournament. I appreciated you playing ORAS for most of the tournament despite your stated preference to play SM. I wish I could have gotten to know you better in the chat, but you played your games and prepped, so how can I complain? I hope to work with you again!

@Eternal Spirit - Your name conjures in my mind some mysterious figure who shows up to save the day. Your results definitely meet these expectations. I don't really have much to say apart from that. You are just a great player overall.

@champagne papi - AKA Mr. Clutch. You were one of the best buys for this team in the tournament. Watching your BW game that one week and witness you pull your way back from an obvious matchup disadvantage to secure the win was an absolute treat. It was also nice to know someone whose timezone was in the United States. Your availability for scheduling matchups terrified me, but you always got it done. I hope we can work together in the future. Fantastic job.

@holy break - Despite your record, you got it done when it mattered. I just hope this tournament was an eye-opener for you and inspires you to continue playing and improving. You always were active in the chat and brought a great sense humor. Watching you troll Callous was hilarious, and I hope he pays you 100 Euros.

@Bluri - You are probably one of the top 5 BW players alive right now, but boy oh boy, was it hard to know what you would bring each week. Still, we would likely have not gotten to this point without you, and I consider you a valuable asset to this team despite randomly disappearing during the tournament. At least in the future, I know that I can hire Callous to hunt you down in Germany. Enjoy playing FIFA.

@deluks917 - Just a fantastic player overall. I always enjoy our Adv matches whenever we get to play, but it was just as fun watching you compete and seeing you lead us to the winner's circle. You were an easy pick during the draft for our Adv/DPP, and I definitely foresee you being in SPL some day.

@M Dragon - You were a great help this tournament despite your record and availability. You were a great role model for our less experienced teammates and provided teams and shared in the prep work whenever needed. Every week, I just imagined our opponents crapping their pants when they realized you were their opponent, so there was the fear factor you brought as well based on your reputation alone. Thank you for signing up, and I hope to work with you again.

Well about that time for da shoutouts. First off congrats to Ballous team; deserved win.

@melle2402 at the start of this tour u were a German dude who got angry. Ur a funny ass guy and take no shit from anyone. Admirable traits in a manager.

@Hassin627 ur a fucking clown. Lmaoo

    ———————————

@marcoasd u proved why u were the gr8 one the second half of this season. A leader on and off the field. Irl obligations always come first but u playing rby is always a spectacle.

@Bomber. a really creative player who doesn’t need to rely on gimmicks because of solid play. Not ur best showing but you know that. Good luck was fun playing alongside u.

@Foggi lol from the random static we had before this tour to now we have come a long way. Hopefully this asscheeks circlejerk community finally realizes ur talent and lets u shine on the big stage. Also we need to smoke if ur ever in nyc.

@Kushalos u weren’t very active in chat but u always made me laugh. Deffo more than just a lower tier scrub. Also good luck on ur cheffing career. I may want to do the same thing one day.

@Bushtushin ur a really strong player dude and are really coming into ur own and I don’t need to tell you this. Canada still sucks. Monotype is for the queers

@Relous holy shit u were a fucking animal. Makinng aggressive plays left and right you always seemed to be a step ahead of ur oops. Ur the best big German player and don’t let anyone tell you anything different.

@Googly ahh the thunder from down under. Despite having little conversation with u in the 2 team tours we’ve played im a huge fan and you know that. Good luck with everything bud.

@gengar17 before this tour I thought u were some typical circle jerk fag. Man was I wrong one of the coolest dudes and arguably the best thinker on this team u were great to play alongside and I hope you feel the same way about me.

@Casparov always drunk. Had a great record. Cool dude. Is Dutch. PLAYS LC. Ehh guess you can’t win em all.

@Capt.Knightwalker literally the best thing to come out of India since butter chicken. Stay up.

@Slurmz not ur tour but what can u do. Cool guy and did what he could to help team. Thanks for math help as always.

    @praj.pran prankman prank. :0

@Mindnight the French wonder kid. Stay up and get less angry abt the trivialities of mons.
