Hello everyone - Pokemon Online World Cup (POWC) is coming up this month! This year it will be hosted by @HSOWA and myself, @tjdaas, with the assistance of the lovely @Mr. Perry. In order to have a successful tournament, captains are of course needed. Last years this was done during the signup phase of the players. However, this year it will be done separately in order to have better idea of which teams can yield enough players and it also speeds up the decision about which tiers should be in this year's version of POWC. Post here if you want to be a captain in the POWC. Bear in mind that it's kind of an investment and dropping out mid-tour would be quite bad and punishable. But that's why assistant captains can be useful and so you can also be an assistant captain. However, assistant captains are picked by the captains themselves in the end and so don’t need to post a separate signup post, if the head captain has put his assistant captain in his or her post. The captain does not need to know his assistant before signing up and can leave the assistant spot blank in his application. However, in the end an assistant captain must be picked and this can be done by a new post of either the captain or the assistant captain. Anyone may sign up, but people with more experience or exposure will likely be getting priority. However, the overall quality of application and the user signing up is the main factor into who we decide will manage POWC. To sign up, you must tell us which country you are from and thus tell us, which team you want to manage this year. You may choose a team from a previous year but past members of the roster (especially captains) will have priority on taking existing teams. New, if any should exist, and old teams are allowed to take eligible players from other teams, when those teams stop existing. For example, if Brazil decides to not be a team anymore, Latin America may take all players eligible for their team from Brazil. In general, the following rule will be used in these cases: Players that played in POWC 2016 or 2017 must play for the same team that they played for last year, unless your team no longer exists or didn't exist last year. The Application Form: Name Captain: [Insert your name here] Name Assistant Captain: [Insert their name here] Proposed Team/Country/Region: [Insert your team name here] Bio: [Put anything you would like to include that may bolster your application here] Commitment: [We will be active throughout the whole tournament and will, without fail, send our team line-ups in time] Hopefully, we can get 12 teams but higher or lower amounts of even numbered teams would also suffice. Furthermore, before you sign up, please think about how feasible it is for your country/region/team to yield a team. For example, teams from Vatican City or Belize are very unlikely to yield a full roster in the end. It is also important that you already have some people that you can rely on to sign up, so that we do not have a lot of teams that can’t fill the entire roster in the end. You don’t need to have a full team by now, but some broad idea would be great! Please confront us with any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you and have a good one! The captain signups will close at 23:59pm UTC on Saturday the 10th of March and on Sunday 11th of March the manager are chosen. On the same day a manager vote will be hold on all important issues. The player signups will go open on the Monday the 12th of March and the captains and assistant captains are also assigned on that day too. The signups will close on Sunday March the 25th and the first week will start at Monday 2th of March.
