Got any interesting, funny, or downright bizarre facts? Share them with others and post them here.
I'll list a few to start off:

-The Celsius and Farenheit temperature scales are completely different, sure, but is there any reading where they are both the same? Yes: minus 40 degrees.

-Whilst on the subject of temperature: For reasons known only to himself, Celsius origonally plotted his scale backwards. This meant that the boiling point of water was 0 degrees whilst the melting point of ice was 100 degrees! This was not changed until after Celsius died.

-More temp trivia: Farenheit origonally designed his scale in such a way that, if the temperature was taken in Denmark (where his best advisor/mate lived) the reading would never be below zero. He hated those messy negative signs, you see. These temp guys, eh?

-There is such a thing as tetraphobia, namely, the fear of the number 4. It's most common in East Asia where there is a strange philosophy that 4 is assosiated with death.
CORRECTION: As pointed out by Coyotte, the pronunciations of '4' and 'death' are the same in Chinese. So I guess that clears it up.

-August has the most birthdays (I myself was born in August) whereas February has the least.

-Strangely enough, the method of creating dyes was discovered by accident whilst scientists were searching for a cure for a fatal disease (Malaria, I believe, but I'm not quite sure).

-Canaries, the cute little tweety birds, are generally associated as being pure yellow. However, when they were first discovered in Africa, most of them were dark green.

-North Dakota is the only American state to never house an earthquake.

-A bit of a gruesome fact, this one: Luigi Galvani, a fairly well known Italian physicist, discovered (somehow) that if you electrified the legs of a dead frog, it will twitch in a life - like fashion (WTF????). This naturally prompted thousands of scientists to try and recreate life by zappin' corpses with an astonishing amount of electricty. It's also one of the factors that inspired the story of "Frankenstein".

-Snover, Abomasnow, Exeggcute, Exeggutor and Celebi all share a crippling characteristic - each have the most type - disadvantages in the game, with 7 types of attack super effective against them (I needed to fit in at least ONE dumb pokemon fact :P). Note that they are all grass types.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only rule (besides the obvious forum rules): If you are posting about something you're not entirely sure about, please say so.
    Now get postin' :P

Currently, the only two Pokemon to have no weaknesses are Sableye and Spiritomb, who share a Ghost/Dark typing. However, an Electric type that had the Levitate ability or used Magnet Rise would also have no weaknesses, because Electric is only weak to Ground.

Arceus has the greatest Base Stat Total of all of the Pokemon, at 720. Sunkern has the lowest Base Stat Total at 180, exactly one quarter of Arceus' Base Stat Total. Also, both of these Pokemon's Base Stats are all the same, with Arceus' being 120 in each stat and Sunkern's 30.

Magikarp, despite commonly being depicted as the weakest of all the Pokemon, is actually tied for the 8th worst Base Stat total alongside Feebas, at 200. The Pokemon weaker than Magikarp in terms of Base Stat Total are: Sunkern (180), Azurill (190) Kricketot (194), Caterpie, Weedle and Wurmple (all 195) and Ralts (198). Another interesting thing to note is that Magikarp wasn't even the weakest in the first generation either! Caterpie and Weedle were at 175, and Kakuna and Metapod were at 180, with Magikarp being at 185 (noting that this was before the Special stat split into Special Attack and Special Defense).

Mewtwo had the best Base Stat Total prior to the Special split at 590. Mewtwo was still top of the pack in Generation II at 680, but he shared his throne with Ho-oh and Lugia. In Generation III, Rayquaza joined Mewtwo, Ho-oh and Lugia at the top, just to get knocked down by Arceus in DPP.

Oak, a Bug/Steel skill swapped the ability Flash Fire would also have no weaknesses, if we want to go hypothetical. A Poison/Dark type skill swapped levitate would also have no weaknesses

Stupid fact: There is a law that no one bothered to remove that states that if the sea were to freeze again around Danemark and Swedes would walk over the ice to Danemark, then the Danes are allowed to hit the Swedes with a stick. This doesn't apply to anybody but the Swedes (Poor them ;-; )

Spinach is actually not a great vegetable for iron, an accidental misplacement of a digit made it seem like it had ten times its actual iron.

    So yeah, Popeye did steroids.

Researchers suspect that as many as 1 in 8 pregnancies start out as multiples, but only a single fetus is brought to full term, because the other has died very early in the pregnancy and has not been detected or recorded. Early ultrasonography exams sometimes reveal an "extra" fetus, which fails to develop and instead disintegrates and vanishes. This is known as vanishing twin syndrome. The other smaller fetus is either reabsorbed by the the"living" one or compressed by its growing twin to a flattened, parchment-like state known as fetus papyraceus.

TL;DR: 1 in 8 people had a twin when they were born. However, before your birth you ate him/her. You little devil you...

A dark poison with levitate has no weaknesses.

A snake's tail begins after its bottom. Not many people know that.

Also, 4 and death is not pronounced the same, but is very similar. You probably couldn't tell the difference. :l

The no-eyed, big-eyed wolf spider does, indeed, have no eyes, but big ones.<------I do not understand.
For the vanishing twin syndrome, there is proof in the fact that most "same gene" twins are like mirrors of each other, one is left handed, the other right handed. Left-handedness is common only in normal non-twin people or twins, thus the conclusion that most left-handed people have eaten their right-handed twin (OMG RACISM)

  17. Some species, such as the clownfish, are known to change gender including reproductive functions. A school of clownfish is always built into a hierarchy with a female fish at the top. When she dies, the most dominant male changes sex and takes her place.

Meaning, in a school (group) of clownfish, a female clownfish is always top of the group. And when she dies, a male clownfish changes into a female and takes her place.

Pokemon has been known to be appropriate for all ages. However, one of their songs based on the original one hundred and fifty one, contained the line "Muk will kick your GRASS" with the word Grass obviously being a play on the word "A**".

    Majorly random, dont ask
I was shocked when i found out some facts about Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
A study found that media (movie) represented CPR as having a 67-75% success rate.
When the actual success rate has been estimated as low as 10% and not usually much higher. CPR doesnt work!
(note: cpr when applied correctly if, for example, an ambulance is on the way. but it cannot being ppl back, it also needs to be applied within 3 minutes to be effective)

    fun facts about cpr
Scientifically shown that you are more likely to be given cpr if you are objectively attractive (mankind, we are such pervs)
You are far more likely to be given cpr by a stranger than by a member of your family (=O !!)

so yeah. this thread is supercool.

When Poliwag evolves into Poliwhirl, its swirl changes direction.
Charizard and Rhyhorn's cries are exactly the same, no pitch or speed differences.
In Firered and Leafgreen, if you attempt to evolve a Golbat or a Chansey before obtaining the National Dex, the evolution
will stop as if you pressed the B button. You'll get a messgae " ...?"
Wooper could learn Ice Punch despite having no arms.
Phione is taller and weighs more than Manaphy.
In Yellow, Gust and Karate Chop were normal moves.
Ekans spelled backwards is "Snake" while Arbok spelled backwards is "Kobra".
Registeel's animation shows him doing the Hitler Salute.
Hitmonlee - Bruce Lee as Hitmonchan - Jackie Chan.
Nidorina and Nidoqueen can't breed, but Nidoran female can.
Kingdra can rotate their heads 360 degrees.
Blaziken was shown in the Johto era.
Garchomp can't learn Fly despite it's Pokedex entry: "When it folds up its body and extends its WINGS it looks like a jet plane. It FLIES at sonic speed."
In generation 2, Sunkern could learn splash as an event-only egg move
In GSC, Lance had a cheated Aerodactyl, at the time, it could NOT legally learn Rock Slide
Scizor has changed it's common sprite color from generation to generation
    Gen 2 - Dark Red
    Gen 3 - Red-Orange
    Gen 4 - Crimson (D/P)
Gen 4 - Dark Red (Plt)
    Gen 5 - Maroon (BW)
Although in the anime, a purple Kecleon is seen, both it's shiny and non-shiny sprite in the games are green.
Though the species has appeared repeatedly, no Slowpoke has ever been seen using an attack in the anime.
Typhlosion is the only fully evolved pure fire type starter
Snorunt wast the first pure ice type introduced
Pikachu was not the original Pokémon mascot. It was supposed to be Clefairy, but this was changed because of the popularity of Ash's Pikachu.
Kanto's starters is the only group of starters that can all interbreed, with all three evolutionary lines being in the Monster group.
Only the Johto starters' final forms can be legitimately obtained in a type of Poké Ball other than the standard one. This is due to the ability to snag the starters' middle forms in Pokémon Colosseum.
Apparently, 1 of 3 female Azurill will evolve into a male Marill

    Also the Klinklang line.

To stay on topic, both the Echidna and the Platypus lays eggs despite being mammals. This is due to having a cloaca, which means that everything that needs to go out of their bodies eventually go through one "tube".

    Oh! Oh! I have a couple~~~

So, John Phillip Sousa, an artist known as the March King, always wanted to make a successful opera piece, but every time he tried, he wound up making a march. (That's from music class.)
Not really a fact, but interesting, nonetheless - My name means God's Chosen One, (or something like that, I forget) but I'm atheist. Huh. Go figure.
People from the island of Lesbos are called Lesbian by tradition, and are mad at people for calling homosexual females lesbians. (My dad told me this, so I'm not sure about it)
Rugby hasn't been in the Olympics since 1924, when America were the reigning champions. When it comes back in 2016, America will still be the champions, despite not playing in over 90 years.
Also on that note, Women's Rugby will be added in 2016. That's interesting
Also also on that note, Dartmouth won the College Rugby championchips today. They beat Army. Kinda sad that an Ivy League college is stronger than the American Army's new face, no?
